They will be taken as 1 train. 9233-9242 is an entire train, comprising of 2 5 car sets. 9258-9267 is also an entire train, comprising of 2 5 car sets. So in other words, there are SIX 5-car sets and 3 trains. @Ulmer: It seems though, that there are 3 trains in service. 9253-9257 and 9243-9247 are linked together. It looks like that 9248-9252 is missing in action. Is it still testing?

Sea Beach Posted December 28, 2008 Author Share #12 Posted December 28, 2008 Well, I saw 4 Full Sets of R-160's in Jamaica Yard few days ago, they all said the , also the alingment is 3 R-160's on Track 3 or 4-6 or 7 from highway side to shop side. The fourth I think is on track 11 or 12... yep, those must've been the 4 I seen.

Sea Beach Posted December 28, 2008 Author Share #17 Posted December 28, 2008 Yes, they've tested them on the and trains... They are most likely to get the trains, or the R-160's will co on the to cover the lost R-40's and R-42's... Yes, they should be... But, maybe 3 is in service and 1 is testing... Great 4 the ! Like I said in the other posts,9233-9267 are 4 sets, there all in full service on the I defidently would have to say the would be the next line to get the 160,they would replace the 32's. and for the ,whatever amount of 160's that go on that line will replace the 68's and those 68's will go on the and replace the R-40's and R-42,that would give you a full line of 68's on the . I was told however that the will run those guys beginning next month. This may change because, from my perspective, Transit's priority is to make the E 100% R160 first, then place the leftovers on the F. Yes, they've tested them on the and trains... They are most likely to get the trains, or the R-160's will co on the to cover the lost R-40's and R-42's... Yes, they should be... But, maybe 3 is in service and 1 is testing... Great 4 the ! No... R160s at Coney Island Yd are going to N, Q and W, there are no plans to run R160s on the B line. The B line will be receiving displaced R68/A from the Q. Where and when did you see them testing on the before? Like I said in the other posts,9233-9267 are 4 sets, there all in full service on the I defidently would have to say the would be the next line to get the 160,they would replace the 32's. and for the ,whatever amount of 160's that go on that line will replace the 68's and those 68's will go on the and replace the R-40's and R-42,that would give you a full line of 68's on the . 9233-9242 are 2 5-car sets 9243-9252 are 2 5-car sets 9253-9262 are 2 5-car sets 9263-9267 is only a 5 car set. I would safely say there are 3 trains (6 5-car sets) in service. There may be another one train (2 5-car sets) out there but I still need proof. The last one may still be testing, it could be in service this week. By the way, cars up to 9277 are at Jam. Yd. property.

MTR Admiralty Posted December 30, 2008 Share #20 Posted December 30, 2008 Yup, I'd love that since for some reason is always the R-68 best mate... I personally saw some pix of R-160 (D)'s... But, that was possibly just testing in passenger service, since the goes to Coney Island and it would be benefitial... Okay, and well now I have another unsettled conclusion: will run 4 sets of R-160's in sometime next month and be 100% by end of next year/early 2010... will run 1-2 sets to get the R-32 out of way sometime next year... will run 1-2 sets of R-46 from to get R-42/40M out of way sometime next year. will stay R-46. will run 1-2 sets of R-46 from the to get the R-42/40M out of way sometime next year. , and will be all R-160's but may run few R-68 at times and rush hour... The last 5-car set I think is located somewhere @ track 10 or 11 from the east side of the loop track... Ideally this is what will happen to the Jamaica Yard lines in the near future... they are all assumptions: -They will make the E ALL R160 -Remaining sets will go to service on the F -G will be transferred to Coney Island Yard... the 40 R46s will go to the R -V unchanged

MTR Admiralty Posted January 1, 2009 Share #23 Posted January 1, 2009 Yup, that is the best, most accurate thing... But, I wonder what if a will have to be stored in Jamaica, that'd be fun to see a R-68 ! Once it is transferred to Coney Island, it is transferred fully, there would not be any storage at Jamaica Yard, besides at that point, the G would probably be permanently truncated to Court Sq.
