That's because Essex never answers the radio at Bway Laff only 34th Tower seems to hear us...

Essex on the Jamaica Line (J)(M)(Z) platform? They're in a different division (I think B2 compared to B1). If I recall correctly, there are signs on the Manhattan-bound platform att Essex St coming off of the WB Bridge that warns conductors on the uptown (M) train to change their radio from B2 to B1 (or vice versa).

When was this? Last I knew, Rockefeller interlocking was still controlled from Rockefeller Tower (and hasn't been on automatic mode since the long term GO on 63rd St started). 34 Master Tower has no control whatsoever of that area.

You'd be amazed how many workers (all the way up to desk superintendents) think that 34 Master also controls Broadway Lafayette and 2nd Ave interlockings as well....

I’ve been out of the loop for a long time so forgive me if I sound dumb. Although I’m an experienced IRT guy back in my transfer/ miscellaneous days I think West Fourth Street controlled Second Avenue and Broadway-Lafayette IIRC. Essex controlled the bridge and down to Chambers Street and then down to Broad Street in conjunction with DeKalb. I’m counting on you, RTOMan, Kamen and Bill from Maspeth to clear this up for me. Thanks. Carry on.

West forth street Tower is No More..

34th Master Controls everything from 42nd street to west fourth on 6th ave  and can "see" 8th ave from 34th to west 4th as well..

Essex still controls from Just south of the Willy B to Broad Street area..

I Believe City Hall controls the Cut south of Broad St...

34 tends to act as if it's "first among equals" on the B2 channel, like they think they're control or something. You're calling Essex or 59 or WTC and they'll butt in.

They're like that one person who has to get involved in every conversation.

They'll get involved with Rockerfeller, or 42nd/8th, control or not. Especially under normal circumstances there is no one in the tower at Rockerfeller to call if something's gone wrong.
