R68ACTrain Posted July 11 Share #380 Posted July 11 5962-5965, 6130-6133 have been retired bringing PKYD’s retired count to 32, and the R46s overall 36. 6 sets of R46s are on hold for missing parts, or just simply out of service at both yards. 4 sets for PKYD and 2 for CIYD.

When did they officially start retiring cars? Which have been retired (I just know about the 4 involved in accidents + the 4 in the shooting)

Calvin Posted July 11 Share #383 Posted July 11 (edited) There was a R46 back then, 5990-5993 that had no rollsign boxes seen on video. But, it did mention being back in service, was on the Rockaway Park (paired with 6026-6029). My guess is the ones retired are not capable of service so, the parts they have are transferred to keep the other units up and running.
