JLiu15 Posted September 24, 2022 Share #1 Posted September 24, 2022 As promised by Princeton University when they switched their transit provider in early 2021, there will be electric buses after a year. The bus model was decided to be the NFI XE35. 17 units will be delivered, replacing all 1995-97 ex-OCTA New Flyer D40LF and Ford cutaways. Deliveries began this week, and 26002 is now at the Stout's facility in Ewing, NJ. It will be used for driver training before entering service in mid-October. JLiu15 Posted November 2, 2022 Author Share #5 Posted November 2, 2022 Update on these buses: Their numbers will be 26002-26018, not 26001-26017. 26002 is still in training but will be in service this month. 26003-26009 will be delivered by the end of the year, while the remainder are still on the line. 26002-26015 will each feature a unique Princeton scheme while the remainder will be in the standard Tiger Transit scheme. 26002 plate: OYB6484 VIN: 5FYB8KJ02NC105964

Ugh, it messes with my OCD, lol!
JLiu15 Posted November 3, 2022 Author Share #7 Posted November 3, 2022 Looks like there's an additional 8 units, 26019-26026, on order for 2024. They will be used for community service around Princeton. As for 26001, IDK haha.
JLiu15 Posted November 3, 2022 Author Share #8 Posted November 3, 2022 Did some VIN decoding. If VINs are in order, then the VINs for the remainder of the order should be: 26003: 5FYB8KJ04NC105965 26004: 5FYB8KJ06NC105966 26005: 5FYB8KJ08NC105967 26006: 5FYB8KJ0XNC105968 26007: 5FYB8KJ01NC105969 26008: 5FYB8KJ08NC105970 26009: 5FYB8KJ0XNC105971 26010: 5FYB8KJ01NC105972 26011: 5FYB8KJ03NC105973 26012: 5FYB8KJ05NC105974 26013: 5FYB8KJ07NC105975 26014: 5FYB8KJ09NC105976 26015: 5FYB8KJ00NC105977 26016: 5FYB8KJ02NC105978 26017: 5FYB8KJ04NC105979 26018: 5FYB8KJ00NC105980 Not an expert on VINs, so I could be wrong. These were just the valid VINs I could find after 26002's VIN. And there's still the possibility they're not numbered in VIN order, lol.
JLiu15 Posted January 17, 2023 Author Share #9 Posted January 17, 2023 As of right now it looks like 26002 has only operated for one day (11/22/2022) and hasn't been used since then. The charging infrastructure at Princeton is not yet complete so it has to go to Stout's in Ewing to get charged. I last visited Princeton and Stout's facility in mid-December, I'm not sure if any other units were delivered. So far their 1995 and 1997-1998 ex-OCTA D40LFs are still going strong.
JLiu15 Posted January 22, 2023 Author Share #10 Posted January 22, 2023 26003, 26005, and 26009 have been delivered and were inspected this week. 26009 features a Princeton Chapel livery. It is likely that all buses up to 26014 have been built. The remaining 4 feature the standard Tiger Transit livery. 26002 is back in regular service with the start of the new semester. However, it must return to Stout's in Ewing for charging as the charging infrastructure is still unfortunately far from complete. It will be in Lot 20 (there's an area currently fenced off for constructing the charging infrastructure) and I only saw 2 charging units there today.
JLiu15 Posted February 6, 2023 Author Share #11 Posted February 6, 2023 26003, 26005, and 26009 are now active! These buses and 26002 are now parked at the new bus yard in Lot 20. 26003 and 26005 feature the default livery without wrap, while 26009 has a Princeton Chapel wrap on the sides. 26004, 26007, and 26008 have also been delivered and inspected, but I did not see those. All 17 buses are built by now. Photos: https://imgur.com/eoRTCiL https://imgur.com/3Iw1MOa https://imgur.com/pN87IS4
