Luis1985 Posted October 30, 2008 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2008 we all know that there are different colored lines on different train lines. such as the: 8 Ave, ((Q6) 6 Ave, Broadway, <R> Nassau St, Crosstown, 14 St-Canarsie, 7 Ave, Lex Av, Flushing, 2 Ave... wouldnt it be nice if they actually put the actual color circle of that line on the front sign instead of some red bright circle? Eric B Posted October 30, 2008 Share #2 Posted October 30, 2008 Whenever they're ready to invest in RGB LED's. I would retrofit the 142's-160's (though the 143's don't really need it as they only run on 1 line), and use the red and orange signs in stations. (Along the 6th and 7th Ave. lines, of course). RokuSix Posted October 30, 2008 Share #3 Posted October 30, 2008 Agreed, the red circles are too generic. In some cases, they're even hard to read.
JJr142 Posted October 31, 2008 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2008 They should put colored LED lights like if its the , it should be green, as yellow.

INDman Posted October 31, 2008 Share #6 Posted October 31, 2008 How about really old school, metal signs like they had on the Low-Vs and gate cars.

Radioguy Posted October 31, 2008 Share #8 Posted October 31, 2008 The current bullets shown on the R142s and R160s use an Optical Character Recognition typeface. To some, this is considered a more legible typeface, and might be why it was used. I like the older bullets, but a screen that can display the color scheme at the definition and brightness needed for legibility is not cheap. I think a slight upgrade to some primary colors in the same type of display is a decent compromise.
SubwayGuy Posted October 31, 2008 Share #9 Posted October 31, 2008 How about really old school, metal signs like they had on the Low-Vs and gate cars. INDman Posted October 31, 2008 Share #10 Posted October 31, 2008 Hey, in the days of the Manhattan Elevated the passengers got from point A to point B some how. Marker lights would be nice, make passengers think.

I've always thought that. If they can do it on the display screens on the inside of the cars, why not on the outside?
R421969 Posted November 9, 2008 Share #13 Posted November 9, 2008 yeah its boring and hard 2 see from far away, those red route signs on the r142/142/160. they wud have looked cooler if it was roll signs on those trains...

Radioguy Posted November 11, 2008 Share #15 Posted November 11, 2008 Well, it would still help if all the lines stopping at a particular station had different colored bullets.
