Kamen Rider Posted March 5, 2020 Share #556 Posted March 5, 2020 Gun Hill on the Dyre Line is on, the 5 is now active from the Bronx all the way to downtown Brooklyn. (still no Longwood Ave on the 6...)
Amtrak41 Posted March 5, 2020 Share #557 Posted March 5, 2020 People need to buy RFID protector sleeves or cards for their Contactless credit cards that are not for OMNY use when travelling, and also watch where they wave their Smartphone around. There is nothing an OMNY system can do about that.
Kamen Rider Posted March 5, 2020 Share #558 Posted March 5, 2020 Reports on twitter show at least one of the Lennox Ave stations are online.
Kamen Rider Posted March 6, 2020 Share #559 Posted March 6, 2020 Update, they’re all online, 110th to 148th. ... and Longwood is STILL not on yet. as of today, that and the 2/3’s Wall Street are the only IRT stations in their respective boroughs not yet ready according to the OMNY official list.

Nick Posted March 14, 2020 Share #567 Posted March 14, 2020 The new OMNY fare card was previously apparently planned (according to PCAC) to be sold only in non-MTA places, mainly retailers. I objected in a letter to the MTA CEO, because store markups would likely add $10-20 per new card or refill for low-income riders, or $120 to $1,040 a year above what the MTA would collect from retailers. However, now it's said that OMNY cards will also be sold by the MTA in MTA facillities, like the MetroCard is now. Good. Also, it appears that OMNY card readers are being installed in buses at the back doors even on non-SBS buses. Also good.

However, now it's said that OMNY cards will also be sold by the MTA in MTA facillities, like the MetroCard is now. Two things: A: I don't know what you were reading because that was always the plan. B: Stores can't charge markups for MetroCard, why would they be able to charge markups for pre-loaded OMNY? The prepaid OMNY cards in stores will roll out first because it will take time to upgrade/replace the vending machines.
RestrictOnTheHanger Posted March 15, 2020 Share #569 Posted March 15, 2020 Metrocards are not marked up in stores. The store makes a small commission selling them, which is probably less cost to the MTA than servicing the machines for those batches. I imagine it would be the same for OMNY card purchases and refills, except that there will be a new card fee charged similar to other transit systems.

True, but maybe that is for Smartphone, debit, or credit cards only. Notice the usually associate the future OMNY Card with those who want to use cash.

The people who use transit benefits will be users of the omny card as well
Kamen Rider Posted March 16, 2020 Share #575 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) According to OMNY.info...
