Union Tpke Posted March 5, 2019 Share #1 Posted March 5, 2019 I got this via Interlibrary loan, and scanned it before I have to return it. These are the pages related to bus improvements made as part of the Fare Deal. The subway improvements will be in the subway forum. Future ENY OP Posted March 5, 2019 Share #4 Posted March 5, 2019 ..... and this is why we will never achieve a regional bus network. That Q46 extension to Lake Success Quad- Marcus Avenue, Lakeville Road and New Hyde Park Road would of been beneficial not only for the N26 connection. But also access to certain areas within the Lake Success business district.
P3F Posted March 6, 2019 Share #5 Posted March 6, 2019 It's interesting to see that back then, they would actually propose route extensions with the goal of attracting ridership, like the B61 to Queens Plaza from LIC. These days? Apparently extending the B67 several blocks to connect with the routes at Williamsburg Bridge Plaza is not feasible, because it would require a single extra bus. B35 via Church Posted March 6, 2019 Share #6 Posted March 6, 2019 WOW - Where... Oh Where are these types of analyses for today's routes ?!! I'm glad that aforementioned extension never took place..... LIJ as a ridership gen for the Q46 ridiculously trumps Lake Success Quad; nobody really takes buses to business parks (which is essentially what it is) like that...... Here in 2019, people seeking that shopping center out there along Union Tpke, short of NHP rd. would find such an extension more useful..... 4 hours ago, P3F said: It's interesting to see that back then, they would actually propose route extensions with the goal of attracting ridership, like the B61 to Queens Plaza from LIC. My personal favorite is the castrating of the B4 from an entire f***ing neighborhood.... to have eventually reverted all service east of Coney Island Hospital later on anyway..... The downfall of bus service in this city more or less started with that cost neutrality farce.....

What floor of the Hunter library did you get this from? Looking at these proposals show that the MTA used to consider the idea of making routes more useful for riders. I wish the MTA was still focused on making actual improvements that would benefit riders instead of always trying to cut service and save money. At this point I can't wait to see how the whole bus redesign works out because I look at some routes in Queens for example and wonder why they still exist the way that they do. This redesign is literally only way we will expect to see some type of improvement in service even though the MTA will also be focused on cutting routes and service. bobtehpanda Posted March 9, 2019 Share #9 Posted March 9, 2019 These analyses look really good, but I saw the Q44 to Fordham and got PTSD about all the conversations on the forums about that over the years.
