Hope all is well. Apologies for the wait due to sorting of all information listed on the bottom.

IRT A Division

 

 240 St Yard (1)   

- 1984-87 Bombardier R62A subway car: 1841-1900, 2156-2175, 2181-2220, 2226-2345, 2351-2455, 2466-2475, 1934:2177-2180 (360 cars- 36 trains)

Total trains: 36

 

Livonia Yard: (3) ,42 St  (S) 
 
-1983-85 Kawasaki R62  : *1301-1365, 1371-1430, 1431-1434:1438, 1441-1625  (315 cars- 31.5 trains)    

  - 42 St Shuttle units: 1906-1908, 1922, 1928-1929, 1932-1933, 1935-1937, 1939, 1941, 1943-1944:1947-1949, 1950-1951, 1953, 1955-1956 -> Total single units: 24 cars, 4 6-car trains. 

* Note: 1326-1330, 1351-1355, 1496-1500, 1516-1520 are used for the (1) train 

 

 

- Bronx line and Nostrand Av (2)(5)  :        

1999-2003 Bombardier R142 Subway cars:   239 St (2) - 6301-6345, 6351-6715: 410 cars: 41 trains,  * E.180 St/Unionport: 6716-6770, 6776-7100, 7106-7130: 405 cars - 41 trains with a 5-car spare.  

Total trains: 81.5 (815 cars)

*Refuse service: R127 EP001-5, EP010, R134 EP014-018, Redbird 19311, 9315, 19316, 19319, 19324, 19326, 19330, 19331, 19336, (at E.180 St- 19309, 19322-19323, 19325) 

 

 Jerome Av Yard (By the Tracey Towers) (4) :   

- 2002-2003 Bombardier R142 subway car: 1101-1200, 1206-1250, 7131-7180 (195 cars- 19.5 trains)

- 1999-2004 Kawasaki R142A subway car: 7591-7620, 7626-7640, 7646-7810 (210 cars- 21 trains)

Total trains: 40.5

 

R142 note* 1201-1205, 6771-6775, 7101-7105 are at their assigned yards, Mosholu and E.180 St out of service. They are currently used for parts until subject to change to be redeemed for service again. 

R142A note* 7621-7625, 7641-7645 is the WABCO brake test train currently at Pitkin Yard

 

 Westchester Yard (6) <6> :        

- 1984-87 Bombardier R62A subway car: 1651-1840, [1901-1905], 1911-1920, (1931-1927-1923-1952-1940),  (1921-1930-1910-1937-1925), 1942,1954:1957,1958,1959, 1961-2155, 2221-2225, 2346-2350, 2456-2465 -> (Total trains: 425, 42.5 trains -> Summer season, 435, 43.5 trains-> Fall, Winter and Spring seasons)

* R62As 1901-1905 and singles around 1942, 1954, 1957-1959 are rotated during the summer as refuse cars to provide air conditioning for their R127/R134 fleet. 

 

 Corona Yard (7)<7> 

- Kawasaki R188 subway cars *CBTC Flushing line (ranging from 1999-2003 and 2011-12)

East New York Yard :  (J) (Z) (L) (M)         

- 2001-02 Kawasaki R143  subway car:  8101-8312  -> 212 cars = 26.4 8-car trains

- 2007-09 Alstom R160A-1 subway car (4-car sets): *( 8313-8376- 64 cars = 8 trains CBTC-L) , (8377-8652, 9943-9974- 38.4 trains -> has CBTC package for the M) = Total cars- 372

- 2015-19 Bombardier R179 subway car: 3050-3145: 96 cars In-service (12 8 car trains for (J) (Z) )   

Route info: The (M) is 8-car 62 ft trains on weekdays. During the weekends going to/from Essex St, all (M) trains are 4-car trains .             

** : Some spare R160A trains from the Canarsie/14 St line can be used on the (J) (Z) trains as long as CBTC bypass is activated.  

 

Jamaica Yard [Queens Blvd with Culver in Brooklyn corridor] *CBTC : (E) (F) (G) (R) 

- [ Alstom R160A-2 subway car: 8653-8712, 9233-9802 ] (630 units = 63 10-car trains)

 8713-8842,  9103-9232, 9803-9942  (Alstom Onix propulsion from Kawasaki)  (400 units = 40 10-car trains)

- [ Kawasaki R160B subway car: < 8843-9102: Siemens propulsion = 26 10 car trains >

Coney Island Yard: (B) (N) (Q) (W)  Franklin Av (S)

- 1986-88 Westinghouse R68 subway car: 2776-2915 (148 cars = 17.4 8 car trains), 2916-24- 9 units used on the Franklin Av S (2 cars as a Shuttle).

- 1988-89 Kawasaki R68A subway car: 5001-5200 (200 cars = 25 8 car trains)

Concourse Yard (D)     

- 1986-88 Westinghouse R68 subway car: 2500-2775 (276 cars: 34.4 8 car trains)

Clifton Yard ( (SIR) - Staten Island Railway) 

1971-74 R44, Staten Island: 388-398, 400, 403-422, 425-436, 438, 440, 442, 444, 446, 448, 450, 452, 454, 458, 460, 462, 464

(57 cars total= 14 4-car trains) * There are 4 doors per side. 

 

** R62A car moves: Post 96 St derailment -> All of the R62A cars seen # 2206-2210, 2271-2275 and 2411-2415 were restored, maintained and back in passenger service. 2177-2180 are also okay and restored three months after January 4th, 2024. However, Westchester Yard transferred single car #1934 to replace 2176 that's used for parts and retired from service due to heavy damages found on the said car. 

R62A #1896-1900 was restored from passenger service after heavy work done and resulted #1826-1830 to move to Westchester Yard to fill in the gap of the old 5-car consist for the 6 (1934-1924-1926-1938-1942-> moved to the 1954 switching out 1960)

Only 4 single car units are held for storage and maybe used as extra cars for refuse service. At this time. they are unaccounted for passenger service and held for any extra use, such as rollsign usage or LED switching -> 1924, 1926, 1938 and 1960

 

*** R46 retirements are beginning now that more R211s are entering service

Current R46 pool: 5482-5549, 5554-5809, 5814-5909, 5918-5929, 5934-5961, 5978-6009, 6014-6021, 6026-6061, 6066-6097, 6102-6105, 6110-6129, 6134-6149, 6154-6157, 6162-6165, 6170-6181, 6186-6205, 6064-6065-6063:6212, 6208, 6210, 6216, 6218, 6220, 6222, 6224, 6226, 6228, 6230, 6232, 6234, 6236, 6238, 6240, 6242, 6244, 6246, 6248, 6250, 6252, 6254, 6256, 6258

R46s transferred to Coney Island Yard from Pitkin Yard -> 5890-5897, 5946-5949, 6010-6013, 6022-6025, 6106-6109, 6178-6181, 6186-6193

At Pitkin Yard, these are married even cars: 6208, 6210, 6216, 6218, 6220, 6222, 6224, 6226, 6228, 6230, 6232, 6234, 6236, 6238, 6240, 6242, 6244, 6246, 6248, 6250, 6252, 6254, 6256, 6258

Currently, these R46s are retired and the parts are reused on active R46s to maintain service: 5810-5813, 5910-5913, 5930-5933, 5962-5965, 6130-6133, 5970-5977, 6138-6141, 6152-6153:6206-6207, 6158-6161, 6166-6169

These R46s are out of service, also, on-hold: 5914-5917, 6098-6101, 6182-6185 

On the outside, R68 cars 2768-2775 were released from Coney Island Yard and sent back to Concourse Yard to fill the spare count for the D train. 

Also, from the middle of June 2024, the R68/A (A) trip was removed.

Didn’t realize the A division appeared to be in a car crunch with some R142/R142A cars out of active service. And looks like the Pitkin R46 numbers are finally dwindling (more R46s running on the (C) due to midday 8-minute headways, along with more R211s filling up the (A))

Only a matter of time until both the (A) and (C) are 100% NTT.
