trainfan22 Posted May 23, 2019 Share #101 Posted May 23, 2019 The first weekend of June the LIRR main line will be out between Mineola and Hicksville, no shuttle bus between those two points. MTA websites says to take NICE N22 or N24 Bus to between Hicksville and Mineola. Ronkonkma/Port Jeff riders east of there will have to ride to Hicksville, take a shuttle train from Hicksville to Babylon for an special express train from Babylon to Penn stopping at Jamaica. Kinda surprised they are not providing a shuttle bus between Mineola and Hicksville.

N6 Limited Posted February 1, 2020 Share #107 Posted February 1, 2020 As per Brooklyn Bus Existing Conditions Report: https://new.mta.info/document/14101 Page 30. Quote As part of the East Side Access opening day service plan beginning in 2022, LIRR will initiate frequent, dedicated train service between Atlantic Terminal and Jamaica. This new LIRR service will make all local stops (Atlantic Terminal, Nostrand Avenue, East New York, and Jamaica), with trains operating from a dedicated, newly constructed platform in Jamaica. Peak-period train service between Brooklyn and Jamaica will operate every 7-8 minutes in both directions, while off-peak and weekend service will operate every 15 minutes in both directions. This represents a large increase in off-peak and weekend service frequency compared with the current 30-minute headway.

It's possible, especially since they may continue a Atlantic Ticket/Freedom Ticket type program. And that segment will be semi-isolated from the rest of the network. You think they'll use 4 car or 6 car trains?

During the recent storm NICE was asked about cross honoring. Their response was along the lines of the fact it is up to the LIRR to request it, and since they didn’t request that NICE cross honor, they aren’t under any obligation to.

Lil 57 Posted August 17, 2020 Share #123 Posted August 17, 2020 (edited) Just a random thought, why is LIRR service to St. Albans so infrequent when tons of Babylon Branch trains pass that station each day. Hourly weekday service is fine but Hourly weekend and overnight service can easily be added at no extra cost. Also another problem with fixed-route buses, it will be problem for cyclists since fixed-route buses can't accept bikes, but many shuttle buses can.
