At this point and likely into the future the only reason why the C is mixed length due to using the R46’s, once you take them out of the equation the C can be a set length and Increase service can definitely be an option on top of having the most reliable fleet will be a super improvement in service.

except those 46s are being replaced by 10 car 211s, so effectively it is still mixed length

an R211A has not been assigned to a C run/ has not replaced an r46 C train. The R211T does not count.

The 211As will also have to come to the (C), you know that right?

Yes we just don’t know what r211will be on the C line at this point

The "C" doesn't have assigned r46s.

The "A" and "C" share the r46s. Therefore, they will share the r211s.

What I was referring to is we don’t know if it will be the 10 car or 8 car sets as it seems the goal at this point is the focus on the A line first

I mean, right now… key focus… the 46s need to GO… not CBTC, not inspection sheds… they are falling apart and need to be retired. And that means, as more 211As come online, we may need to occasionally cycle one onto the C even if just for a day or two because I do not trust those hunks of junk ordered in the Nixon administration…

10 car trains. The original plan for option 2 is to purchase 4 eight car r211 trains (32 cars). The rest of option 2 as well as option 1 are ten car trains.

We're good to go for option 1. Let's cross our fingers that the MTA sticks with the original plan for option 2 even if it means looking for other sources of funding outside congestion pricing.

I've been trying to avoid riding the r46s, especially this summer. The air conditioning is terrible.

Fortunately, the recent instances where I had to take the "A" or "C" trains, I've been getting r179's or r211's.

Can you be more specific?

I went to Roosevelt Field Mall on the slim chance the Samsung store could help me with a certain matter (no dice, but I did manage to deal with it another way). I opted for a round-trip ticket between Atlantic Terminal and Mineola, where I could get a bus to cover the last leg. As far as the railroad goes, eastbound was fine, if somewhat less pleasant from Jamaica to Mineola due to the switch from a shuttle to a train to Port Jefferson, but heading back, there were no checks. To make matters worse, the train I got at Jamaica to Atlantic Terminal (not a shuttle) was comprised of M7s and was almost ready to leave when I got there, so I had no chance to see which car I was in until it was too late. As such, I only discovered I was too far back at Nostrand Avenue (6 cars only) because the doors didn't open.

Was option 2 original order that really small?

The 46s (in my experience) were the most smoothest cars I’ve ever rode. Maybe it was just the cars I was riding or what.

They were, until they weren't.  They are no longer a smooth ride if you get on a bad one, and so many are bad now.
