Let’s put this into perspective.

140 of the R-211’s being Delivered will make up for the loss of the R-32’s that were retired back in 2022.

940 R-211’s are needed to Fully Replace the R-46 Fleet.

I’m not going to Count the 75 R-211S’s as they’re not relevant to my point.

As it stands now, the Base Order and Option 1 Combined will be enough to displace the R-68/68A to CIY if we take 6th Avenue CBTC into Account, but I don’t think it will be enough to make the (C) and (G) Full Length Yet.

…thats where Option Order 2 comes in.

Yeah option 2 will solve all shortages on B division probably. C and G could be made fill length but shortage of cars would be even more of an issue probably.

They did option order I so they can get rid of all the R46s since the base order plus the option order is more than enough to replace the R46 fleet and have a surplus of 155 cars (in reality 55 cars since the first 100 R211 are replacing the already retired R32s.)  while Option Order II would just be for fleet expansion.

They can still Make the (C) and (G) full length, They just have to keep a certain amount of R46s until there is enough R211s to retire those remaining R46s. They are aiming for april of next year to start congestion pricing so they will have to hang on to some R46s plus Coney island is going to need more R46s to increase their spare factor.

You can drop the congestion pricing for now and wait until at least 2025 to see if it comes to reality. Because right now it’s all about the money.

4120, 4121, 4122 and 4123: delivered and paired with 4124.

Also, the R211 has been released to daily rotation to the Pitkin Yard fleet. You’ll see more than 1 train set on the (A) line (4080-4089 is the second set, the (C): eventually yet TBD)

Yes, for now, the R211 assigned count cars are at 20. More will come later in weeks when more units are at Pitkin Yard.

Is it the 4070s then if there are 2 sets? Someone said the 4080s were in the Rockaways

It is 4070-4079 that's in service. Read a previous post that was said that 4070-4079 was at Coney Island Yard. Maybe, it moved to Pitkin few days ago. Although, 4080 is still doing testing but not in yet for customer service.

2 r211As + 13 r179's= 15 NTTs for the A. Work in progress!! 🙌

I hope the A gets more soon, even thought it ain’t 2024 yet… what will be first set that will be on the C? Got any clues, @Calvin? Oh yeah, here’s a video with em at Jay St-MetroTech!

It's a wait and see thing. It's still a long way and undecided to use them on the (C) local line yet.

According to a press held today by the (MTA), they expect at least two R211A trains to come into service per month (possibly more if all goes well with production & testing). So I would speculate that there could be close to a dozen R211A's in service by the end of the year and with the R211T's & R211S expected to have their 30 day in-service acceptance later this year, this car order will be rolling right along in the upcoming years.

Props to Kawasaki rail car for all the hard work they continue to perform under their tight schedule.

A new set every two weeks makes perfect sense considering a set is delivered a week. Not sure if it will be slowed down when R211S sets start delivery.

If that number holds up, there should be 14 R211A trains by the end of the year, as well as 2 R211T trains and 1 R211S set. I estimate that the A will be fully NTT in exactly a year.

Depends on the builders themselves, Kawasaki builds trains faster. If deliveries goes as planned (30 cars per month) then, proceed to burn in testing, it should be fine. 3 trains per month is a lot better for them to take the worst performing subway cars permanently oos and we will see a real competition between 3 NT subway cars: R160s, R179s and R211s by the time the 43xx series subway cars go in service
