Isn’t it better to have an attorney (lawyer with civil service appeal experience) help you with the appeal? Your case will most likely be stronger than appealing it by yourself.

Don't think ppl want to spend money on that. U can appeal it yourself through DCAS or the employment center. Theyll fix it if u speak to the right person. I remember appealing it and they fixed it and ended up calling me for the job. I eventually denied it cause I was already at top pay at another dept. I wasn't going to start from scratch again. Especially not a job in the stations dept. Stations dept has too much issues within, too much politics going on.

I went to the employment center at MTA in Brooklyn the other day and they couldn’t change their own mistakes, they told me to appeal it 3rd time through CSC. If you think they are more than a help, the answer is no.

If MTA replies to the CSC appeals, especially ones who hired expensive lawyers, does MTA pay fees/money to fight us back or usually the agency just surrenders and adds us back on the list?

MTA does have lawyers on stand by, but I doubt theyll fight it, especially if you have proof of your experience.

I got most of experiences written down and notarized by an agency that has notary. I even added my employers’ contact information as proof to support my experience. Along with the attorney fees, which I found a way for it, that was everything submitted to CSC to in attempt to have my rejection appealed and overturned.

I'm list number 13836

I just received a email

We are in the process of returning the Conductor  Cert back to DCAS for review. If you are still interested in the Conductor position, kindly reach out to DCAS the week of September 23, 2024 via email and request to have your name restored to the certification for future hiring. The email address is LMACustomerService@dcas.nyc.gov

Does anyone know any info about this and I just took the drug test last month

Sounds like they playing games.  I took the drug test last month as well but I haven’t received a follow up yet.  Keep us posted if you hear more.

It takes up to 90 days after the drug test for them to call you again for the medical

Okay I see what you’re saying. This might be that 1 in 3 rule that people on here talked about a while back. I don’t fully know about it but I think they pick 1 in 3 people to get hired. If you scroll back a few pages on here you’ll see what I’m talking about. Like I said that MIGHT be what it is.

I believe they have to actually DENY you in the email along with the 1 in 3 rule

So they randomly remove 2 out of every 3 people from the list?  So even after drug test you still gotta get lucky to get called back for medical?

From what I’ve seen throughout the entire forum, I can’t believe that there are people/candidates who are willing to just let MTA take advantage of them, tell them their stuff and then get you to believe it.

sometimes ya’ll gotta man up otherwise when you get on the job, they still gonna be telling you lies and playing games

Not sure where you're getting at, but if u already have these issues with MTA, then u should just take your name off the list because if u accept this job, MTA will take control of your life if u really want the job. Your job becomes your priority. Ppl don't have the luxury of just leaving or not accepting a decent paying job with benefits. The Job market isn't doing well. Ppl have families and bills, so its not that they let MTA take advantage, it's that ppl can't afford to just leave. Nobody is going to take a risk of leaving a job and be uncertain of when they'll be able to find another decent paying job with benefits, paid vacation, paid sick, and alot of other benefits that the private sector doesn't offer. Theres always going to issues at these city/state jobs, it's not just MTA. U have to know how to weigh the good with the bad and decide what's more important to you. But if you already see issues you don't want to deal with, then I advise you to not even bother waiting to be called and tell DCAS to remove you, so someone else can move up into your spot. Because I can tell u this right now, the issues u see here isn't even the half of the issues u will deal with when you have the actual job. Anyone who has been working for MTA for years will tell u this.

All I said was if people think the issues aren’t with themselves and rather with MTA, just speak up or try to man up. I never ill-advised anybody to let them take advantage of you. Like for instance, there are people finished with drug testing and some aren’t being directed to the right status, I just advised them to speak up if something feels weird. I don’t want to see anyone being mislead or not get a job with MTA because they are being screwed over. You want the job and will stay on the job? You fight to get it. You can’t get in trouble as long as you’re doing the right thing.
