Far Rock Depot Posted July 5, 2013 Share #1626 Posted July 5, 2013 I think the main issue with certain equipment failing on the C, compared to the E, is a matter or run time. Sure, both lines are fully underground, But the distance and service pattern make a factor on internal component temperatures IMHO.
R32 3838 Posted July 5, 2013 Share #1627 Posted July 5, 2013 I think the main issue with certain equipment failing on the C, compared to the E, is a matter or run time. Sure, both lines are fully underground, But the distance and service pattern make a factor on internal component temperatures IMHO. the E/F shares 160s the C got ENYs R160s and those are used to being outdoors, in a matter of time they are gonna have no choice but to extended the to Howard beach or Rock pk during the summer months, it has been talked about within the ta, they'll just have to figure out how to do it Each time i ride an R32 on the and their ac is great , and now that you think about it the its not the R32s ac thats messed up its the cars running on the all year long and since the trains dont go outside its pretty obvious that overtime the ac will get messed up cause of the heat. Now with the R160s having the same problems , i don't people should complain about the R32s ac anymore cause its not the trains problem ,you can clearly see with them running on the that their ac is fine .I think we can all agree once the swaps is over the car assignment won't be the same anymore. this I agree with
Amtrak7 Posted July 5, 2013 Share #1628 Posted July 5, 2013 This is a bigger problem than it is now: if NTT's can't take the , what will happen when the entire fleet is NTT many years from now?

Or just extend to the to Lefferts. Also when they have the G.O where the only runs between Bowling Green and GC and AFAIK the cars don't have A/C issues. Its baffling as the C is a part time line and most of its fleet is stored outdoors when there not being used overnight.

It's been beaten to death why the isn't going to lefferts, and full length trains don't look like they're going to be regular on the anytime soon either.
Art Vandelay Posted July 5, 2013 Share #1633 Posted July 5, 2013 R160 and R179 will be less similar than an R142 and an R142A, which aren't very similar to begin with. The 5 car R179s are near certain to end up on the A. R160's can handle being on entirely underground lines with no problem. (They have run on the E R and V without problem,)

Orion VII 4 Life Posted July 6, 2013 Share #1637 Posted July 6, 2013 Apparently the may be completely suspended this weekend due to the problems with the 160s on the , hearing from multiple people. Not sure where the R160s and 32s will go, but there's a chance we just might see the regular / swap.

LTA1992 Posted July 6, 2013 Share #1640 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) Machines can be more human like than people give credit for. Scientists have said similar things to that. Lines like yours come from people who don't think outside the box. Edited July 6, 2013 by LTA1992

Art Vandelay Posted July 6, 2013 Share #1642 Posted July 6, 2013 The C is assigned 5 sets of R160s and 12 sets of R32s. If you are seeing more R32s than R160s, it does not mean the system is shutting down, nor does it mean that R160s have head colds, nor does it mean that they are protesting their assignment to the C. It means things are running as they are intended to run.

R10 2952 Posted July 6, 2013 Share #1650 Posted July 6, 2013 ...No matter what the does, it seems they always end up hitting a brick wall. They really must be kicking themselves right now for sparing only 272 of the old cars. Any chance of them reactivating the 16 R-42s stored at 207th?
