Imo R160s on the are a much better fit compared to the R179s

R68ACTrain Posted June 8, 2020 Share #6654 Posted June 8, 2020 The R179s gotta go. If that's the case, the R211s should have 318 extra cars built. This is ridiculous, not even the R46 had such a problem. They were lemons too.

The beaches are closed NOW! NYCT will not encourage ridership to a closed beach! As we all know the shuttle runs to Broad Channel and connects with all Far Rock A trains. 3 trains does the job. I does not need a service increase because that would require more t/o's as well as c/r's. What happens on a rainy day? These crews would have PICKED jobs anyway. They are not going to put OPTO on an R32! There are drum switches involved which will not be changed with passengers on the train at Rock Park if the platform is opposite the t/o. And if it would be OK, a 4 car R32 would be the CONTRACTUAL limit. NYCT does not have all their t/o's and c/r's back anyway. I'm telling you, since I know their thinking after working for transit for over 30 years, nothing will change in the Rockaways. The only POSSIBLE improvement you will see is 8 car R46's to Rockaway Blvd. on weekends, which is usually running by now but not this year. Subway car availability is very tight. They will not spend money on reactivating more R32's for such a worthless reason. Social Distancing: the A from Euclid (and north) to Broad Channel where they would catch the shuttle would have more Social Distancing issues than the shuttle they catch at Broad Channel which may be crowded, but half go one stop to Beach 98th and the rest to Beach 116. Exactly, and the other lines need the T/O's.

Collin Posted June 8, 2020 Share #6658 Posted June 8, 2020 They're not going to scrap the newest cars in the system. They're still under warranty, and thus Bombardier is paying for all of this.

trainfan22 Posted June 8, 2020 Share #6663 Posted June 8, 2020 According to subway time and MTA. Info, the is running for the PM rush so I guess they'll send out 32 for the PM rush? Then again, correct me if I'm wrong, ENY only sent two sets of 160s to 207, so they probably can make service without using the 32s.
GojiMet86 Posted June 8, 2020 Share #6664 Posted June 8, 2020 They ran the in the AM. Saw several sets. They ran only R143s and R160s.

So I wouldn't expect to see any more than that. How many 8 car R160's are on the ? If it's just the two from before, then the R46's are running at a reduced spare ratio, as are the other yards that gave R160's to the . I am guessing the R32's won't be used anywhere unless the R179's are out for a long time, in which case they'd be needed to increase the spare ratio at ENY.

Collin Posted June 9, 2020 Share #6675 Posted June 9, 2020 In the other thread, someone said the is only using R46 now. So does that mean the two R160s were given back to ENY?
