4CNRailfan Posted February 27, 2020 Share #5951 Posted February 27, 2020 What I want to know is when, if ever, will the R46s hit the ? I have my doubts on this happening since Concourse Yard usually only holds/maintains R68/As. I wonder what the future holds in this area?

Maybe very rarely, you may see one set of R46s on the just by chance if no R68/A's are available, but I'm pretty sure the MTA wants to keep the fleet uniform (R68/A's only) and there are enough R68/A's to keep the R46s off the . bwwnyc123 Posted February 27, 2020 Share #5957 Posted February 27, 2020 (edited) They want both to only use R68s, since they both share the same yards near each other in both Concourse and Coney Island, the crews does not have any problems changing the rollsigns and because they been doing that for a long time now. Too put more R46 on with a few R68 sets. Edited February 27, 2020 by bwwnyc123

The has more than enough R68/A’s especially with the using R46’s.

trainfan22 Posted February 27, 2020 Share #5963 Posted February 27, 2020 Just now at the N/B platform at 34th Street there was a R46 train and an R160 train side by side in the station at the same time.. how rare is that these days?!? I'm fanning so I had to choose between the two sadly, I choose the R46 train since I rode a 160 train more recently, however the car I was stuck in on the way to Astoria had flat wheels which kind of ruined the ride. Oh well.
KK 6 Ave Local Posted February 27, 2020 Share #5964 Posted February 27, 2020 The wikipedia pages for the cars currently being swapped have curiously not been updated: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R46_(New_York_City_Subway_car) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R160_(New_York_City_Subway_car) Don't know why this is. Likely the R32 has had some more cars retired since the end of January yet it still says 106.

Iron Valiant Posted February 27, 2020 Share #5969 Posted February 27, 2020 Apparently, all R160 Alstom cars from CIY (N/Q/W) were transferred to Jamaica (E/F/R). Can we get another update on which R160 cars still remain in CIY and the remaining R46s at Jamaica to be transferred to CIY?
