Metro CSW Posted February 7, 2013 Share #1776 Posted February 7, 2013 I think only up to 7832 will get onto property, and 7833-7898 will be delivered in late 2013 to early 2014. Up to 7854 should be arriving between now and May. Atleast, that's what I was told.....

mtattrain Posted February 9, 2013 Share #1778 Posted February 9, 2013 Anyone know why R142As 7481-7485 are testing on the Dyre Ave Line?
depotofrelax Posted February 9, 2013 Share #1779 Posted February 9, 2013 7816-7821 & 7827-7854 are either still in the 207 shop building or E180 St yard building, this is my guess/opinion. R188 #7816 - #7821 are at Unionport Yard..... By now R188 #7828 - #7832 should be delivered at 239 street yard.
Far Rock Depot Posted February 9, 2013 Share #1780 Posted February 9, 2013 Anyone know why R142As 7481-7485 are testing on the Dyre Ave Line? aren't they being housed at 180th or 239? Dyre would be the closest non revenue track to test on. especially with the Broad Channel Flats' test track ojt of commision untill the summer. Fan Railer Posted February 17, 2013 Share #1784 Posted February 17, 2013 So no testing that I know of was spotted today, but I did see cars 7822-7826 + 78xx-7821 parked at 180th Street Yard. I also came across this video just now which is also in the Photos and Videos section: Nice to know that the new sets use the same propulsion and hence sound exactly the same as the old ones.

Subwayfan12 Posted February 17, 2013 Share #1786 Posted February 17, 2013 They wouldn't need FIND anyways
Grand Concourse Posted February 17, 2013 Share #1787 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Since these trains will be exclusive to the 7, strip maps will be just fine, they would be better off putting the find on the r142s on the 2/5 lines. (Not saying they have to, but that's where they would be better used) Edited February 17, 2013 by Grand Concourse

Fan Railer Posted February 17, 2013 Share #1790 Posted February 17, 2013 I was actually surprised that they do, since this propulsion isn't manufactured anymore!! I suppose that it's not that difficult to resurrect an old design to manufacture so long as you retain the blueprints for them.
Culver Posted February 17, 2013 Share #1791 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) I was actually surprised that they do, since this propulsion isn't manufactured anymore!! I'm quite disappointed they didn't go with an all-new propulsion system. The MITRAC they had on the R142A on / is ass. Bucking galore every time the damn things accelerate. It wouldn't be worth it.

Orion VII 4 Life Posted February 18, 2013 Share #1795 Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) From what I understand that new C car is UNPOWERED. I don't know what they will do about the brand-new sets though, they probably won't have the MITRAC since it isn't made anymore. There's a good chance they'll be able to run them together with the converted sets, like they can and have run the R160 Alstom and Siemens sets together. Whoops, realized that was a new set. Very interesting how they were able to bring that propulsion back, makes me wonder if they'll bring it back for the 179s as well. It's a completely new fleet that doesn't need to be compatible with any other fleet.

As much as I would love for that to happen, the only reason these guys have it is because it would cost too much to rip out the propulsion for over 400 cars and put in new ones.
twilson1160 Posted February 18, 2013 Share #1798 Posted February 18, 2013 Here proof to all the railfans who think the R188 will have find display. (Car#7813) That is messed up, they should of did the same like the R-160 instead of putting new stickers everytime when it's a recent change to a subway route!!
Grand Concourse Posted February 18, 2013 Share #1799 Posted February 18, 2013 Finds still have glitches and why would you need it for a line that isn't going to share its trains with another line? Strip maps makes the most sense. They also put the stickers on the map since its cheaper and less time consuming than to remove the map and print up a new one just for one or 2 changes.
