St Louis Car 09 Posted January 22, 2011 Share #128 Posted January 22, 2011 they arent doing the R142s from bombardier they only doing the R142a from KawasakiBombardier would have to do their version of the R142 for conversion if necessary since it is their product.
East New York Posted January 22, 2011 Author Share #129 Posted January 22, 2011 Bombardier would have to do their version of the R142 for conversion if necessary since it is their product. Kawasaki won the contact, so I'm pretty sure no R142's or Bombardier will be anywhere in the picture.

Princelex Posted February 1, 2011 Share #136 Posted February 1, 2011 And then your going to be the first one saying "Bring back the RFWs/R62As" l0l A lot of people are gonna be saying that and they'll be wondering where the RFW is when they get all the R62A's back on the . ABQ RIDE Posted February 1, 2011 Share #137 Posted February 1, 2011 So, has it been confirmed yet that the R62As will be going to the ? It seems to make the most sense, considering that they ran on the before and the fact that they had green/red circle/diamond indicators installed, which would be useful for the (6)/<6>. The (2)/(5) don't make any sense considering they often share cars, and it would be an operational nightmare to constantly change rollsigns. The might be a possibility, though I still think the would be more likely.

We gonna have a lot of disappointed folks up in this forum! LOL I would likely guess the will send back the 5-car sets first since they can't be broken up and keep the singles till there are no more 5-car sets. I know that it probably doesn't make a difference at this point, but I still think the singles should be linked up into 5-car sets when they are on the . Gonna be strange seeing purple stickers representing Westchester yard though, heh.

Grand Concourse Posted February 15, 2011 Share #144 Posted February 15, 2011 Change back? I know they'll be around a few more years, nut isn't that a waste? No the R62s should stay on the since there's enough for the w/out need for another train type. is best off as NTT mainly.

So why go through the time-consuming process of putting new colored decals on the R62As when they go back to the ?

Honestly I think the 62A's should go to the and bump the 62's to the which will bump several NTT's to the .But we'll see.
Guest lance25 Posted March 1, 2011 Share #149 Posted March 1, 2011 Why? It's a 1 to 1 trade (Pelham's 142As for Corona's 62As), not a 1 to 2 to 3 to 4 one.

I know. But there's no need to change the decals because the MTA has largely abandoned the practice of placing color-coded yard decals under the car number plates. If they haven't, then the R142s would have those decals. But they don't. There's also no need to shift the R62As back to the and the slightly older R62s back to the . The current and assignments are fine the way they are.
