7LineFan Posted July 15, 2013 Share #1 Posted July 15, 2013 So, anyone know what the heck this is and where it's from? Looks like a New Flyer to me...
Kingsbridgeviewer382 Posted July 15, 2013 Share #2 Posted July 15, 2013 Judging from the look of the bus, I guess its a New Flyer D60LF Articulated. I don't know where it came from anyway.
Turbo19 Posted July 15, 2013 Share #3 Posted July 15, 2013 So, anyone know what the heck this is and where it's from? Looks like a New Flyer to me... This is a 2002 New Flyer D60LF, which last belonged to Rutgers University.
youngblaze Posted July 15, 2013 Share #4 Posted July 15, 2013 I believe that's a Rutgers bus.
GojiMet86 Posted July 15, 2013 Share #5 Posted July 15, 2013 Didn't someone say somewhere that Rutgers sends a bus for their orientation?
Orion VII 4 Life Posted July 15, 2013 Share #6 Posted July 15, 2013 So, anyone know what the heck this is and where it's from? Looks like a New Flyer to me... That is an ex-Rutgers shuttle New Flyer D60LF. Academy Bus operated their shuttles under contract until a few years ago, they lost the contract to First Transit and kept all the buses (the fleet was of RTS including some NJT-owned RTS, older Nova LFS, and D60LF) Many were sold, many (RTS only) were put into Academy's NJT contract fleet, some went to their other university contracts like NYU but many are still in the Academy fleet for smaller shuttle operations like the parking lot buses at MetLife Stadium and obviously these shuttles for the All Star Game. You have any idea where that runs to/from? Update Edit: From the Academy facebook page... It would appear at least some of these shuttles go to somewhere in Midtown and use wrapped MCI J4500s... 7LineFan Posted July 15, 2013 Author Share #9 Posted July 15, 2013 You have any idea where that runs to/from? Around the park to all the parking lots scattered about... the USTA does something similar with vans during the US Open. This bus -- since it's a 2002 model -- is making me wonder why the MTA, in all its infinite wisdom, didn't order three-door articulateds until recently... honestly it's really a pain in the ass trying to disembark from the D60s they have now... Interesting... Academy does run parking lot buses at the Meadowlands but those typically run Novas and NABIs no matter the size of the event, never any artics. Hell I saw some pics of the buses at Wrestlemania, and even there I didn't see any artics and that was supposed to be the "WWE Superbowl" or whatever. MTA makes lots of stupid decisions man. The buses aren't wrapped. Tatted up at the back, yes but not wrapped. Saw a bunch parked at CitiField today. Did you see any New Flyers/Novas/NABIs or NJ State MCIs? mfs NJT459 Posted July 20, 2013 Share #12 Posted July 20, 2013 I wouldn't be surprised if Academy also used NJT owned MCIs for the Shuttle
RailBus63 Posted July 20, 2013 Share #13 Posted July 20, 2013 The legals are behind the second door: OPERATOR ACADEMY EXPRESS LLC We saw a group of these buses at Academy's Perth Amboy garage on the MBS tour in April - supposedly they were kept there because Academy still runs stadium shuttles for Rutgers. Others were moved up north when Academy won the Boston University shuttle contract.
