NorEasterNick Posted October 17, 2015 Share #1602 Posted October 17, 2015 Hey 553... what's the deal with only SOME buses now displaying their garage? Doesn't seem to make sense. Could get confusing to the public to see a Bridgeton bus all of a sudden read "Egg Harbor"
Calvin Posted October 17, 2015 Share #1603 Posted October 17, 2015 (edited) So, this is what I've observed from last month till now, don't know if this is accurate: * The Northeast Corridor uses Bombardier ALP-46 with Bombardier Comet Cars or Arrow cars * The Raritan Valley Line uses Bombardier ALP-45DP with Bombardier Multilevel II passenger cars *The North Jersey Coast Line and Morristown to New York uses either a ALP-45/46 with Bombardier Comet cars, Hoboken are diesel locomotives (Morristown to NY uses Multilevel cars) *The Gladstone Line uses Bombardier Multilevel II cars with either a ALP-45 or 46 or Arrow cars *The Mountclair line uses a ALP-46 with Multilevel cars to NY, Hoboken are diesel powered locomotives with Alstom Comet Vs * The Main Line is either a Comet V or Multilevel cars * All diesel locomotives with Comet Vs are on the Bergen Line and Pascack Valley Line * Atlantic City line comets are Bombardier and Alstom comet Vs and a diesel type *The Port Jervis Metro North uses a F40 or G40 Locomotive with Alstom V cars Edited October 17, 2015 by Calvin
GojiMet86 Posted October 18, 2015 Share #1604 Posted October 18, 2015 The NJ Transit Meadowlands Special that runs from New Haven to the Stadium uses an ALP with 5 Comet coaches and a Comet V Cab at the end. It used to be 7 coaches and the cab, but it's different this year.

553 Bridgeton Posted October 20, 2015 Share #1606 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) It was to keep track of the flow of buses so they knew which buses were doing what n from what garage. Edited October 20, 2015 by 553 Bridgeton

Maybe some of us here can answer your question I figured it out but, it's still horrible. -One, the bus maps are horrible. They should do a google maps overlay. -Either you have to know the route or you put in a origin and destination path and they give you a route you could take. Give me a reasonable map. Sometimes there's another bus you can take a few blocks away. -There are no zone maps as a whole, I guess they're contrived based on each bus route ( I know they're in each bus route pdf). -I was trying to figure out the monthly pass rate for a certain area and you get a sheet with a list of zones, but I understand how it works now. It's very useful it would be nice if you could also get all routes near an intersection. Interesting article. Especially the growth in trips to the path. The trips around Newark Penn is spreading in a web-like fashion.
Amtrak7 Posted December 13, 2015 Share #1619 Posted December 13, 2015 Fare question: if I ride a local bus and then transfer to the HBLR, is it just the local fare + 75 cent transfer fee on the bus, or is there some sort of upcharge involved since HBLR's not a 1 zone fare?
SevenEleven Posted December 14, 2015 Share #1620 Posted December 14, 2015 Fare question: if I ride a local bus and then transfer to the HBLR, is it just the local fare + 75 cent transfer fee on the bus, or is there some sort of upcharge involved since HBLR's not a 1 zone fare? The transfer is good for one zone on the HBLR.
Amtrak7 Posted December 14, 2015 Share #1621 Posted December 14, 2015 The transfer is good for one zone on the HBLR. So despite the $2.25 HBLR fare it's still a one zone transfer. Got it.
46Dover Posted December 18, 2015 Share #1622 Posted December 18, 2015 Saw MCI D4500CT (CNG) 7274 on 116 to Perth Amboy going down the Turnpike
Silk City Transit Posted December 18, 2015 Share #1623 Posted December 18, 2015 Saw MCI D4500CT (CNG) 7274 on 116 to Perth Amboy going down the Turnpike Now that's a sight! That had to have been a Howell operator covering it as I don't think they'd give a CNG to an Ironbound driver.
BZGuy Posted December 18, 2015 Share #1624 Posted December 18, 2015 I know Howell had AM trippers on the 116, I didn't think they had any PM trips
46Dover Posted December 25, 2015 Share #1625 Posted December 25, 2015 D4500CTCNG had an accident in Weehawken with a (big surprise) NYC Taxi van that tried to turn right inside of the bus that was making a right turn. This is why we can't have nice things....
