paulrivera Posted June 24, 2017 Share #1476 Posted June 24, 2017 So it looks like the Myrtle viaduct GO is loaded. Based on some searches in tripplanner, it looks like every 3rd or 4th train will terminate at 2nd ave during rush hours. This isnt advertised in the GO posting. It's in the timetable: http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/pdf/tmcur.pdf Also of note, there are five weeknight shuttles leaving at the 11pm hour from Broadway Junction that terminate at Essex Street, get laid up in Manhattan overnight and don't return until the 5am hour the following weekday. I have a couple of ideas where they might store these trains, but does anyone know for sure where they're being laid up?
Lawrence St Posted June 24, 2017 Share #1477 Posted June 24, 2017 Broad St Layup, where else?
Jemorie Posted June 24, 2017 Share #1478 Posted June 24, 2017 (edited) Broad St Layup, where else? Um no. Look at the track layout again and see. The train would get delayed: http://www.vanshnookenraggen.com/_index/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/NYC_full_trackmap_16.pdf They will more than likely be stored at the Canal Street Layup or Chambers Street Layup so that they don't get in the way of the 24/7 train termination/origination at Broad Street. So it's actually more like Broad Street "Relay" because that's what the train always does anyway. Edited June 24, 2017 by Jemorie
paulrivera Posted June 25, 2017 Share #1479 Posted June 25, 2017 I would figure they'd use that side track between Bowery and Canal Street to lay up those particular trains. Here's hoping that those trains don't get tagged up down there overnight...

Im hearing from reliable sources those 5 trains end at Essex St on weekday nights lay up on the track that goes through the abandoned side of Canal and Bowery.

Wallyhorse Posted June 27, 2017 Share #1483 Posted June 27, 2017 This is one case where they probably could have gotten away with if necessary doing this all the way through to Tuesday night-Wednesday morning. While Monday is technically NOT a holiday and the stock markets are open, only those who absolutely have to be at work will be on Monday as most likely will likely be taking four-day weekends if at all possible.

Yeah, no. The community already throws a tantrum when the is out Friday night- Monday morning. They'd have a conniption if the was out from Friday night to Wednesday morning. The is the only subway option in the neighborhood. They'd never let a 4 day shutdown happen...
Lawrence St Posted June 27, 2017 Share #1485 Posted June 27, 2017 Instead of terminating it at 9th Avenue why not just run it to Bay Parkway?
Around the Horn Posted June 27, 2017 Share #1486 Posted June 27, 2017 Instead of terminating it at 9th Avenue why not just run it to Bay Parkway? 9th Avenue is the closest station to the shuttle buses so they terminate there. No point in running them down to Bay Parkway, thats just extra unnecessary milage. If they could terminate southbound trains at 36th without screwing up the and , they probably would.
Lance Posted June 27, 2017 Share #1487 Posted June 27, 2017 Precisely. The terminates at 9 Avenue during these service changes because it's the closest terminal, not to give the West End extra service.

They technically can but it would have to run express on 4th Avenue if they did and the would have to run local.
Jemorie Posted June 27, 2017 Share #1489 Posted June 27, 2017 Instead of terminating it at 9th Avenue why not just run it to Bay Parkway? They're not going to overserve the West End Line like that. Around the Horn is right.

Lance Posted June 28, 2017 Share #1491 Posted June 28, 2017 To amend that list, I'm almost positive that the Lexington Ave service changes in effect this weekend (07.01) will be in effect on the weekend of the 15th.

RestrictOnTheHanger Posted June 29, 2017 Share #1493 Posted June 29, 2017 I wonder if the will be cut back to Queens Plaza or 96th St when the terminate at 71st. Turning all 3 services in the relay would probably not turn out well, seeing as everything is running local those weekends.

S78 via Hylan Posted June 29, 2017 Share #1499 Posted June 29, 2017 (edited) @Lance or any other mod: If next month has additional weekend changes posted on the website, can someone add them to the list I created? It'll be easier than making another post. Thanks in advance. Edited June 29, 2017 by S78 via Hylan
Lance Posted June 29, 2017 Share #1500 Posted June 29, 2017 I think so too. They've really been putting up last-minute advisories up as of late. It's like they saw the comments on the lack of communication and decided to double down instead of actually addressing the issue. To answer your later post, sure.
