RR503 Posted March 20, 2017 Share #1301 Posted March 20, 2017 This is one of the reasons I would be looking long-term at extending Phase 2 across 125 with a connection to the 8th Avenue line at St. Nicholas Avenue. That way, in such a situation with the you could have either the or or both be extended to run with the on the Concourse Line to Bedford Park Boulevard (aside from having such a line run to 125-Broadway to connect to the ). Jeez. Where aren't you extending the SAS. I've heard LGA, the bronx and now this from you. And needless to say, JUST ADD SERVICE! We don't need to spend an extra billion on connecting an already pricy crosstown extension to the bronx just so the MTA can run extra service from the east side when the is out for mx.

The connection in this case is not just for that. The main reasons for such an extension I repeated ad nauseum, I was specifically looking at this case.

agar io Posted March 22, 2017 Share #1305 Posted March 22, 2017 Or you could extend the into the Bronx as an alternative to the along 3 Avenue. The usual riders would use the or to transfer to the . And then terminate both the and on different levels at White Plains Rd and Gun Hill Rd. That way, there would be cross-Bronx connectivity and a bit fewer riders on the . A potential problem would be that the never connects to the in the Bronx, and the never connects to the at all. But riders have two chances to take the - at Gun Hill Rd and at 3 Av/149 St.

Lance Posted March 24, 2017 Share #1310 Posted March 24, 2017 Even with the reduced headways, the is likely tying up the Astoria line during these midday express run G.O.s. Shifting the secondary line away from Ditmars should speed up the service somewhat. However, I don't believe they should slash the headways of the if it's running to 96 Street.

As a rider: 20 minute headways on the Astoria line? No thanks. As a bean counter: 20 minute headways on the Astoria line? This will save us a fortune!

As a bean counter: 20 minute headways on the Astoria line? This will save us a fortune! If the was the only service running to Astoria, why would it run on 20 min headways? If the was sent to 96th the would be running to Astoria at its normal 10-min headways. That's what I meant by running normally. Funny you mention that. Does anyone else notice a screeching sound on R46 & R68 trains along 53rd St (MANHTN), 7th & Flatbush , and Queensbridge? Is it the walling, the trains, or Platform controller's audio feedback? Is it possible to transplant R160 Strip maps on R142-R143 cars? They're both Panasonic, or no?

Also, they're using line crews for the most part; they're probably not used to turning the strip maps off like the crews when they used to get equipment with line strip maps every other day..
