BDNQ2345 Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1155 Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) We also have the return of the to Chambers St that same weekend. I was wondering, why they just extend the to Broad St, instead of extend to Chamber St. Edited February 1, 2017 by BDNQ2345

MysteriousBtrain Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1157 Posted February 1, 2017 I was wondering, why they just extend the to Broad St, instead of extend to Chamber St.The extension might be to connect to an actual subway line or to fix up Essex again.
Jemorie Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1158 Posted February 1, 2017 the being extended to lower manhattan is so that weekend 6th ave passengers can connect with the rerouted on the broadway line at chinatown-canal st
BDNQ2345 Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1159 Posted February 1, 2017 The extension might be to connect to an actual subway line or to fix up Essex again. if they extend to Broad St it can help during the 6th Av swap.
Around the Horn Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1160 Posted February 1, 2017 The to Chambers is purely to connect to the at Canal only.

S78 via Hylan Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1162 Posted February 1, 2017 Does the gonna get some r160 during the swapVery unlikely as the line will still have access to it's home yard. Same goes for the .
RestrictOnTheHanger Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1163 Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) The is also running via Whitehall, presumably to make room for the to run via the bridge and 4 Ave express, and also maybe for the connection at Jay. Lawrence St Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1164 Posted February 1, 2017 Does the gonna get some r160 during the swap Nothings impossible. Something can happen on Concourse that will restrict the from gaming access to Bedford Park Yard, and in turn will gain a R160 from the .
MysteriousBtrain Posted February 1, 2017 Share #1165 Posted February 1, 2017 Since both the and switch southern platforms at Coney island, my belief is that at least a few R68s and R160s could be mixed around to keep consistent service. But I'm not a genie so let's see.

It's obvious they've known about this major service change for some time now. I know I've said this many times now, but I don't appreciate how there's no information about this until practically the last minute. I hope they update the announcement on via B'way line and some R160 on the I hope an via Broadway/West End option exists in the system. With our luck, they'll all be signed to Listen for Announcements. The to Chambers is purely to connect to the at Canal only. Yep. This is to remove the three-legged transfer to/from the at Essex St.

paulrivera Posted February 3, 2017 Share #1169 Posted February 3, 2017 No train on the final weekend of February? You mean to tell me they expect the and to fill in for the in Manhattan and the in Brooklyn at the same time? S78 via Hylan Posted February 3, 2017 Share #1170 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) With the running on 8 minute intervals instead of 12, it shouldn't be too bad. But, I do agree that it might not be enough. Edited February 3, 2017 by S78 via Hylan

agar io Posted February 5, 2017 Share #1173 Posted February 5, 2017 At 42 St-Grand Central I saw trains terminating at the uptown express track because of the switches. That was interesting. Forgive me for my ignorance, but was there a particular reason why the is even running at all if it's only running between 180 St and 42 St? The seem to be providing all the alternate service.
danielhg121 Posted February 5, 2017 Share #1174 Posted February 5, 2017 There is work going on near the Joralemon street tubes. They don't want to squish all 3 lines into the City Hall Loop so they just cut the short. Ehhhh, the serves the same purpose on its normal service pattern, so whats ur point? The is extra. Sent from my iPhone using NYC Transit Forums mobile app I know about the loop situation. I meant that the was made redundant and could have been suspended entirely. If anything it could have been the that short-turned so the wouldn't be as redundant.
