There aren’t 8-Car conductor boards on the concourse line so there will NOT be any 8-car R179’s via concourse. The (C) will have a few R46’s as per usual and some R68’s. And to all concerned: Be sensible, mindful, and careful when you go fanning this weekend. 😊

Well about that. The last several northbound (C) Trains for the night per supplement is actually going all the way to 205th Street and two of the trains so far are in fact R179s.

i rode an R32 (C) train 10 years ago up to 205th during a reroute, so 8 car R179's can run up there with no issue since just like the R32's it's 4x4.

Maybe the 8-car stop marker is 60 feet away from the 10-car marker, meaning that the train will just stop right in the center of the platform (just like a 10 car train just without cars 1 and 10.)

Since it was just two trains peak direction, I'm surprised they're even bothering with it; I thought the service reduction would be the end of it. I guess they must have been doing really welll with riders.

Since they are going Normal on the Fox that wasn't a possibility regardless...

Also those are Picked Jobs with those Intervals so no more reassignments so F express service returns..

The Coney Island-bound <F> was meh in my opinion. That could have been axed for sure. It served as a faster alternative for upper Culver (Kings Highway–Church Avenue), but was about just as slow as the (F) for lower Culver (Coney Island–Avenue U). Train dispatchers held the <F> at Kings Highway and West 8 Street too often.

The only way to save actual time going into Stillwell Av is to subtract one or two (F) trains from the required fleet requirement (from 44 trains to 42), then there will be actual space in one of the two terminating tracks (5 or 6) for the <F> to pull in without holding for the 7-8 minutes.

That means eliminating Jobs...

That's not an option at this time....

not really eliminating jobs, just train sets. The crews on the (F) would just have a slightly longer rest between runs. The problem with the <F> express is that it was rushed into syndication, with NO other schedule changes made. What needed to be done is that Stillwell Av needs to send more (F) trains out per hour during the 5:30PM-6:30PM hour back to 179 St, or remove them from service, and in exchange, change the schedule of the Kings Highway short-turns (with either a net -1 or -2 number of trains terminating at Kings Highway), with an equal increase in the turning capacity at Stillwell Av of +1 or +2.

Thats not how it works down here... Any trip that is cancelled or changed has to be implemented in a work program or a supplement to be used...

ohh. so wait!, since the (F) schedule was changed outside of a pick to accommodate thee <F>, we have to wait for the next pick for the schedule anomaly to be addressed?

So does the (R) shuttle between Whitehall and 95th St still run overnights?

The (R) would operate up to Atlantic (and it operates express between Atlantic and 36th Street).

Since the (R) now operates 24/7 to South Ferry, I wonder why bother having the (N) terminate at Court Street and have this service arrangement. It made sense years ago, since the (N) was the only thing during late nights to operate to those stations. However, the (R) isn't normally scheduled to operate express on 4th Avenue (while the (N) is), so I feel that this creates unnecessary service patterns. I guess that 2-3 hour timeframe when the (R) is still operating to/from Queens complicates things a bit, but still. If it was a weekend service change though I would be onboard with the setup.

The (R) could have operated to Court all local, with the (N) would have just operated express between 36th and Atlantic during late nights. Currently, (D) trains start running local on 4th Avenue after 7 PM anyways (NB), so it can make local stops on 4th Avenue north of 36th Street and riders can use it to get to/from Manhattan. Also, (R) riders could transfer at DeKalb either the (D) and (Q), or Jay Street for the (A) or (F) , but it is what is I suppose. The Queens-Manhattan part of the rerouted (R) could have been expanded (M) service to Forest Hills. However I'm assuming that rescheduling the (R) via 6th Avenue is probably easier.

May 22 - 23, Saturday & Sunday
(R) Trains skip 5 Av/59 St, Lexington Av/59 St and Queens Plaza in both directions

This is what they usually state when the (R) operates along 63rd Street.

Glad to see they are still doing Fastrack projects. I did have to do a double take on the diagram to see that the (R) is operating via the Bridge. It will operate via the bridge, of course, but because they put the (R) bullet next to the (F) on the diagram, it gives the appearance that the (R) will operate via the (F) line and the Rutgers Street Tunnel during this Fastrack project.
