Queens Division Bus Proposals/Ideas

Q43LTD

Recommended Posts

okay but for express bus service, the QM3 and 24 need to run all day

LOL BWAHAHAHA so you're saying we need more empty buses all day? Yeah good luck. 24 I can understand 3 you can't be serious. Hmm how full is that bus in it name? We both know that answer.

You want to run the Q60 from east midtown to Floral Park... are you f**king INSANE??:huh:

Yes he is very insane and what you gonna do about it?

There is no need to mess with these routes. The only one that could work is having the Q101 cut back to Queens Plaza since it mostly empty going to 2nd Ave.

Gonna just sit back and enjoy popcorn.

If LIB was joined into MTA Bus  Do you think they would have merged the following routes for their latenight  hawks or last few runs of the night?

Q2/N6

Q5/N4

Q12/N20

Q43/N22

Q36/N24

Nope. The Q43 local slog, even late at night, takes a fairly long time (at least compared to the N22)

Why would you combine Nassau Routes with Queens Routes... If those buses were to drop off in Queens

can you imagine how long that run would be... Imagine a N22 making ALL stops to Hicksville or an N6 making ALL

stops to Hempstead lol smh it's just not feasible to do such a thing

The way it's currently set up is perfectly fine... NO drop off in Queens Eastbound

No pick ups in Queens Westbound...

I just wish that Nassau routes would stop at the last stops of Queens buses; that way, customers could have a choice for whichever one comes first.

It would be nice but it's not fair to the Nassau riders whom the route was created for

Now if Nassau pushed for there buses to drop off and pick up both ways in Queens then it's a different story

But we all know that's ain't happening

Just remember the suggestion was for the over night hawks and/or the last couple of runs for the non-24 hr routes.

So, when there's more reason for someone to want to go home as quickly as possible? Combining would almost certainly mean slicing frequency.

Let's be perfectly honest: people from the border areas use both buses whenever it suits them. The whole separate stops thing is, for all intents and purposes, a formality. It'll become even less relevant once both NICE and MTA have their bus tracking apps.

The same guy who suggested NICE create a bus route to the Bronx has decided to enlighten the MTA Photos Facebook group with another one of his suggestions:

Quote

Somebody SHOULD TELL THE MTA that a bus route from Brooklyn to LaGuardia Airport is HIGHLY NEEDED.

Truthfully, I do not care if it is a Q70 LIMITED extension to Williamsburg Bridge Plaza, a Q72 extension to Ridgewood Terminal, or a new route (perhaps numbered Q73 LIMITED and operated by MTA New York City Transit) from Broadway Junction and servicing Ridgewood Terminal.

Lol.... Yep, he outed himself alright...

Dude was the only person on here that suggested the Q70 be extended to WBP...

Prior to that, he also suggested that the Q48 of all routes run to WBP, only stopping at Lorimer subway along the way.....

Short of nothing, what frequency can hawk trips legitimately be sliced to?

Well, for example, if you've got a bus every 60 minutes on the Q43 and a bus every hour on the N22, the penny-pinching MTA might, in the event of a combination, decide that one bus running every 60 minutes would be better than keeping two buses. He was talking about combining routes.

Actually, after looking at the NICE bus schedules, I'm not sure what runs there would be to combine; the N22 doesn't run at all between 1 and 4.

That's exactly the point of the suggestion....

Ok, there is a lot of unnecessary confusion. This is not hard to follow.

The 24/7 NICE routes are the N6 and the N4, those would be combined with the Q5 and Q2 overnight hawks. The rest do not run through the night, but can have the last few trips after 11PM  or whatever combined.  <_<

The routes would not be longer as they would be no longer than the existing NICE Route. They would just have additional stops in Queens, but over/late night that's not going to matter...

Yes, they would probably cut runs, instead of having Q2's and N6's run all night. (Q2 hourly, and N6 half hourly). They can have the N6 continue to run half hourly, and just cover the Q2's route. Providing more service to Hollis Ave for less money. etc.

Agreed with all except the 17 and 85. I don't know much about the Q58 to say anything about that.

The Q58 really needs it. The Local and Limited buses get full and crush loaded.

The Q59 picks up very few people from the Grand Avenue subway station, because it stops on the opposite of Queens Blvd, and the Q58/Q58 LTD stops at both, so that's a reason for the crowding.

Maybe this is just me, but I'm having a really hard time imagining artics fitting into the Flushing terminal of the Q58. That road has serious traffic issues.

Artics make the same turns as regular buses. The only thing is those people over there. They dont necessarily follow the lights and stops signs. That is why Main Street and Flushing is the way it is today. Other than the Q58 the Q27, Q43, Q46 and school tripper or rush hour only Q88's need them. That's is why I wouldn't be surprised if Queens village gets a batch of Articulated buses one day.

It's not about the turn; it's about the fact that the bus stop isn't very long, and it's also a very narrow road. Can an arctic merge into that bus stop without blocking the rest of the road?

That's a very good point. They would have to do some major changes to that part alone to have artics run on the Q58 and you can hardly make any changes in that area as it is. That street is extremely narrow and it gets worse when you factor in double-parkers.

Those people in the area have no sense what so ever. They continue to walk even when the light is green causing the buses to bunch in Flushing. When buses are turning they still continue to walk in the street that why there are so many hit related deaths in Flushing. Just the other day a lady got hit because she wasn't looking at the traffic.

As far as the Q58 idk because it's usage is very close to the Q44 and the Q27 is not far behind. I was going to say Roosevelt and then Sanford but the Q48, Q50, Q19 and Q66 start there unless they were to have the Q50 and Q66 start on Main Street like they use to in order to make room.

They could put artics specifically on the Q58 Limited, and have them run on the more ample Sanford Avenue Pair going back if there is a concern of not making the tight turns.

As for the streets being narrow and not enough space, maybe a short-turn location could be considered for the route (Grand Avenue Subway Station) coming from Ridgewood. You can place artics only on the short-turn route.

Roosevelt isn't really possible for the Q58 without some major changes, since all turns at Main and Roosevelt are prohibited.

They could put artics specifically on the Q58 Limited, and have them run on the more ample Maple Avenue.

The problem is that if you put the stop on Maple, you're way too far from the subway. 41st Rd is also a bit of a walk as it is.

The general traffic layout of the area is not conducive to terminating buses.
