dp142 Posted July 16, 2013 Share #701 Posted July 16, 2013 Just finished up a project on A4 North of 125 a few months ago. I think the only things worse then customers being on a train that gets taken OSS is the workers being on the same train. What a muggy night it was on the tracks. Everything was so damp from years of moisture that just about everything had a slight ground. We were cleaning under the 3rd rail and the brooms and shovels were arcing against it. Shuttles buses make all bypass stops on the Queens Blvd Line.http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/fastrack_EMR.htm This is very different from the previous Queens Blvd Fastracks. They had been shutting down the 53rd st tubes and the express tracks as well. I guess they've finished their work on the tubes and the express tracks and just have work on the locals. Hopefully my station gets some love this time.

Amtrak7 Posted August 11, 2013 Share #709 Posted August 11, 2013 Note that at the same time as this FASTRACK, downtown runs via 53rd St and uptown runs via 6 Av (53 St).

dp142 Posted August 13, 2013 Share #711 Posted August 13, 2013 Depends on who you ask. For RTO it may be with regards to how trains are re-routed. For 3rd Rail and Track dept. it's not due to power still being on except for select portions of the track where a contractor may be working. From a maintenance point of view it's dangerous. Years ago we all worked live and we learned how to do it safely and efficiently. That included changing out the 3rd Rail and 3rd rail side running rail. A little over 5 years ago all work was to be performed on G.O. tracks with power off. At the same time lots of new Trackmen and Maintainers were hired. Now that Fast Track is a "Power on G.o." the new guys are terrified and distracted while working.

Amtrak7 Posted September 2, 2013 Share #714 Posted September 2, 2013 The page is up but very skeletonized. http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/fastrack_ACBD.htm turns at 59 turns at 168 end early turns at 59 turns at 161 Passengers are being told to take the , as well as shuttle buses which appear to be running along the Bx19. j express Posted September 3, 2013 Share #715 Posted September 3, 2013 I don't undrstand why the 42 St Shuttle is running overnight for the CPW Fastrack? I understood why it ran overnight for the Lex and 7 Av Fastrack last year.
Mysterious2train Posted September 3, 2013 Share #716 Posted September 3, 2013 Probably so people on the West Side who take the and whatnot can make their way over to the instead, and reduce the inevitable load on the , and shuttle buses.

The dosen't even have a transfer point to the shuttle.
Mysterious2train Posted September 3, 2013 Share #718 Posted September 3, 2013 But it will connect to the , which is an alternative to the for every stop except 205 St. Better to have those people end up on the from one of the lines in Midtown rather than pack onto the or shuttle buses to 149 St
Snowblock Posted September 4, 2013 Share #719 Posted September 4, 2013 It's running for customers coming from the , who will walk right past the to get to the because it's EXPRESS to Grand Central...... If this is anything like the last Concourse Fast Track, no matter how many times I announce that 59 St (or 125 last time) will be our last stop and I announce every possible transfer to get to the , when we arrive at 59 St everyone's gonna look at me like I'm crazy when I kick them off the train. Q43LTD Posted September 4, 2013 Share #720 Posted September 4, 2013 If the and were 160, I wonder what the signs would say. Does the 68 have a destination for Columbus Circle?
Guest Lance Posted September 4, 2013 Share #721 Posted September 4, 2013 If the and were 160, I wonder what the signs would say. Does the 68 have a destination for Columbus Circle? I know the A has an option for 59 St-Columbus Circle northbound on the 160s. I'm not sure about the D. And no, I don't know what the exterior signs would display. Snowblock Posted September 4, 2013 Share #722 Posted September 4, 2013 The R68's have neither 59 or 125 on the rollsigns. They'll just be kept as 205 St. The R46's can be signed for ANY destination. It should say COLUMBUS CIRCLE / 59 ST / 8 AV LINE

Orion8 Posted September 6, 2013 Share #724 Posted September 6, 2013 They should do all the construction they need to do at late nights...I can't stand the F train going one mile per hour in Brooklyn
Guest Lance Posted September 6, 2013 Share #725 Posted September 6, 2013 That would only leave them with four to five hours per night to get anything done as opposed to the 52 hours they have on weekends. Work would take much longer to complete.
