Alright , i would like to give this thread a shot:

The Abandoned El structure collapses Near Alabama Avenue (J) and renders the El Useless between Broadway junction and Alabama Avenue. For safety concerns the Portion of the (L) between Bushwick Avenue - Aberdeen Street and Broadway junction is also unusable. However, Broadway junction can still accept Train Traffic and the Connection between the (J) and (L) lines is also unaffected. Oh , its also Rush hour so the (Z) train comes into play and there are shorter headways between trains. Reroute trains accordingly :D .

Bonus Challenge : A Switch Malfunction occurs at metropolitan avenue (M) at the same time as the structural collapse on the (J) and the station can't be used as a terminal.

It's August 28th, 1991, and a downtown (4) train derails on the switch from the express track to the local track north of Union Square. The accident happens at night, but both downtown tracks are still unusable during the next day.

(4) Downtown trains run using the uptown express track. Uptown trains run local.

(5) Terminates at East 180 Street.

(6) Terminates at Grand Central-42 Street.

Yes, that means the Brooklyn Bridge station uptown express track will be used for trains in both directions, but it's an immediate change, so yeah...

Hmm....(F) simply terminates at Church Av....

The Brighton line becomes elevated after Newkirk, so I would simply have the (B) and (Q) terminate at Newkirk.

The (D) can run via the (N) for a reroute.

I would have extra (N) service....some (N) trains would loop around Coney Island and terminate at Brighton Beach on the (Q).

There's going to be lots of shuttle bus service.

FASTRACK has come to the Queens Blvd line. No trains can run between Jamaica Center/Jamaica-179 St and Court Sq-23 St/21 St-Queensbridge. Try to run shuttle buses as little as possible, but you can certainly run them. Court Sq and 21 St-Queensbridge stations may be used.

If it was me.

(7): Additional service.

(E): No service between Court Sq and & Jamaica Center

(F): No service between 21st St-Queensbridge & Jamaica-179th St.

(J): Additional service between Essex St & Jamaica Center.

(M): Service ends early.

Shuttle Buses operate as follows.

What If...

The (B) ran local in Manhattan and the (F) ran express.

The (R) replaced the (Q) and Second Ave but the (Q) ran express to Jamaica Center and the (E) ran local to 71st Ave.

And then the (R) ran express on 4th Avenue in Brooklyn.

If an <F> was created in Brooklyn, during rush hour via the Culver Express track. This could also be created to get people to Coney Island next Fourth of July.

This isn't what the What If? thread is made for. If you have actual service proposals, why don't you use this thread:

The 59th Street tunnel has been flooded due to three inches of rain in two hours. 53rd Street is not an option, as there are emergency repairs in that tunnel.

Bonus: The 7 is not an option, as the line is suspended due to flooding on several sections of the line, due to the same rain storm.

Change things on the E, F, M, N, Q, and R. Have fun!!!

Here's another one:

The 59th Street tunnel gets flooded due to a massive rain storm (4 inches in 3 hours). Running extra trains in the 53rd Street tunnel will not be an option, as there are emergency repairs in that tunnel. The 42nd Street tunnel is not a viable alternate, because 7 service is suspended due to flooding on multiple portions of the track, due to the same rainstorm.

Anyone who tackles this will need to address service on the E, F, M, N, R, and Q. I should also mention that everyone needs to be practical (not having 30 TPH in the 63rd Street tunnel).

Have fun!!!

4 Av Local? That is very questionable.

^ It includes the express tracks...

Have a look at the track map. And then tell me the opposite of what you just said. #SquadUp.
