TheSubwayStation Posted July 21, 2012 Share #1451 Posted July 21, 2012 Can't terminate trains south of West 4 Street, unless you don't wanna take the challenge. Oh, I thought "south of West 4 St on the 8 Av line" meant Manhattan only. Whoops...

Mr Railfan Posted July 21, 2012 Share #1453 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Alright , i would like to give this thread a shot: The Abandoned El structure collapses Near Alabama Avenue and renders the El Useless between Broadway junction and Alabama Avenue. For safety concerns the Portion of the between Bushwick Avenue - Aberdeen Street and Broadway junction is also unusable. However, Broadway junction can still accept Train Traffic and the Connection between the and lines is also unaffected. Oh , its also Rush hour so the train comes into play and there are shorter headways between trains. Reroute trains accordingly . Bonus Challenge : A Switch Malfunction occurs at metropolitan avenue at the same time as the structural collapse on the and the station can't be used as a terminal. TrainFanInfinity Posted July 21, 2012 Share #1462 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) NEXT: It's August 28th, 1991, and a downtown train derails on the switch from the express track to the local track north of Union Square. The accident happens at night, but both downtown tracks are still unusable during the next day. Downtown trains run using the uptown express track. Uptown trains run local. Terminates at East 180 Street. Terminates at Grand Central-42 Street. Yes, that means the Brooklyn Bridge station uptown express track will be used for trains in both directions, but it's an immediate change, so yeah... The Brighton line becomes elevated after Newkirk, so I would simply have the and terminate at Newkirk. The can run via the for a reroute. Q10 Airport Posted July 21, 2012 Share #1467 Posted July 21, 2012 Next: The 59th Street tunnel has been flooded due to three inches of rain in two hours. 53rd Street is not an option, as there are emergency repairs in that tunnel. Bonus: The 7 is not an option, as the line is suspended due to flooding on several sections of the line, due to the same rain storm. Change things on the E, F, M, N, Q, and R. Q10 Airport Posted July 22, 2012 Share #1468 Posted July 22, 2012 Here's another one: The 59th Street tunnel gets flooded due to a massive rain storm (4 inches in 3 hours). Running extra trains in the 53rd Street tunnel will not be an option, as there are emergency repairs in that tunnel. The 42nd Street tunnel is not a viable alternate, because 7 service is suspended due to flooding on multiple portions of the track, due to the same rainstorm. Anyone who tackles this will need to address service on the E, F, M, N, R, and Q. I should also mention that everyone needs to be practical (not having 30 TPH in the 63rd Street tunnel). Have fun!!!
