I wonder what the fuel type will the non-electric buses run on, aside from the possible diesel buses for the express order. Will it be Hybrid buses? Fuel Cell? CNG possibly for fleet replacement? Oh the world may never know yet.

trainfan22 Posted September 20, 2019 Share #4330 Posted September 20, 2019 The TA won't need new artics for quite a while considering that on average the TA keeps buses for at least 15 years, and the oldest artic currently in the fleet is from 2010.

Possibly, but I do expect some New Flyer and NovaBus vehicles in the play as well. Currently, when orders are split for local buses, it’s usually a 60/40 split, with 60% of the order going to New Flyer (usually for Manhattan and Brooklyn buses), and 40% for NovaBus (for the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island). It is unknown how split orders will work with the addition of Proterra and possibly BYD.

The LFSe is quick charge, short range unlike the Proterra and XE40.

There are more artic conversions in the pipeline so these would replace standards and be for fleet expansion.

That’s gonna be a problem for snow storms too, should always have standards in reserve unless if these artics can actually handle snowstorms now.

Shouldn't be a problem for the electric ones since all axles are powered

NYCTA: Purchase a total of 1,548 new buses for local $821m and express services throughout the network. New bus purchases include 475 standard and articulated all-electric buses, accelerating NYCT's transition to a zero-emission fleet. The fleet is being expanded to provide better connectivity and more direct service (Page 57): For NYCT, 1,548 buses are to be purchased, including 1,088 standard buses, 345 articulated buses, and 115 express buses; 1,454 of the buses to be purchased will replace buses that have reached the end of their useful life, and the other 94 buses will provide fleet growth; 375 of the standard buses and 100 of the articulated buses will feature all-electric propulsion. These purchases, in concert with the electric buses purchased under the MTA Bus program, are projected to yield an annual reduction of over 37,000 tons of carbon emissions. 375 Standard Electric Buses 713 Standard Buses 100 Articulated Electric Buses 245 Articulated Buses 115 Express Buses MTA Bus: Purchase a total of 874 new buses for local and express services throughout the network. The fleet is being expanded to provide better connectivity and more direct service (Page 134): 874 buses are to be purchased, including 545 standard buses, 79 articulated buses, and 250 express buses. 782 of these new buses will replace existing buses, including some that will be up to 15 years old at the time of their retirement, and the other 92 buses will provide fleet growth. 25 of the standard buses will feature all-electric propulsion; Deficient components at up to five MTA Bus depots will be addressed, targeting structural elements, heating/ventilation, and electrical systems. Continued investment in miscellaneous depot equipment, including bus lifts; The first MTA Bus depot will be modified to support an electric fleet with power upgrades, the chargers, and other improvements necessary to maintain this fleet. 25 Standard Electric Buses 520 Standard Buses 79 Articulated Buses 250 Express Buses

trainfan22 Posted September 20, 2019 Share #4350 Posted September 20, 2019 Those new Novas at Flatbush are probably loans, I doubt the TA wants to continue stocking parts for three different bus fleets at FLA (Orions, Novas and Flyers) . When its all said and done the Artic fleet at FLA will most likely be 100% XD60s. As a busfan I wish theses new Novas would stay at FLA along with the XD60s but logically I don't think it will happen.
