Grand Concourse Posted June 9, 2012 Share #1776 Posted June 9, 2012 Yeah, so the partition saga continues onto our 9600s and hybrids at Flatbush. Smh I was the first operator with it today for the RTS installation - 9694. It's a complete different build. I have photos to follow up when I get a chance. hem, so they are going to install them on the 9600s... It did seem like they haven't added more partitions for some time now. I still think most of the buses should have them. For the RTSs, maybe have even some of the 9500s equipped with the partitions.
Acela Express Posted June 9, 2012 Share #1777 Posted June 9, 2012 f**k that; I was highly upset when I went to my bus and got the surprise today. The NG next to my bus had the same one too... And to think I always try avoiding getting a 50xx or 51xx bus cause of that shit. Super cockblocks.

S78 via Hylan Posted June 9, 2012 Share #1782 Posted June 9, 2012 I caught the S91 yesterday which left St. George at 3:30 PM, yes I mean 3:30, not 4:30. The schedule does not show this, but I've noticed for the past week. Maybe the next updated schedule will reflect it.
Blitz Posted June 9, 2012 Share #1783 Posted June 9, 2012 I'm surprised the 55xx - 57xx D60's don't have them yet. It looks like they would be A LOT easier to install on those then they are to install ion the RTS's

CDTA Posted June 11, 2012 Share #1786 Posted June 11, 2012 I hate it when B/O's say you can't film without CDTA's permisson. Bitch please! i was filming at Empire State Plaza, where tens of thousands of people work and the supervisor said NOTHING. I was filming at my school and the supervisor said NOTHING. If you don't want your picture taken, be a man about it anjd say "I don't want my picture taken." Don't act like your not the reason we can't film.
checkmatechamp13 Posted June 11, 2012 Share #1787 Posted June 11, 2012 Ah, the buses were good to me today. I missed the S44, but an S59 came a few minutes later. While we were waiting for the light at Castleton Avenue, I saw an S46 pass, but luckily, they got stuck behind a double-parked truck for a minute, and the B/O let me on while she was waiting. Going back, there were 2 S44s coming together, so the buses played leapfrog and everybody got where they were going a couple of minutes faster.
NewFlyer 230 Posted June 11, 2012 Share #1788 Posted June 11, 2012 Today a novabus LFSA was on the Q88 from CS. I was lucky enough to catch it and take a video of it.

Joel Up Front Posted June 12, 2012 Share #1790 Posted June 12, 2012 The NGs here tend to blast heat if the A/C is gone, and that's not good. But anyway, I think only the NG CNGs have this - there are these boxes under the seats closest to the rear door, with metal grates. Are these supposed to be air filters or something?

Via Garibaldi 8 Posted June 13, 2012 Share #1793 Posted June 13, 2012 Okay, so here's those cockblocks: #9694 Orion NG #4240 I got a question... How comfortable are those seats? I sat in one years ago when I was a kid when my uncle let me sit in the B/Os' seat and I can't recall what the seat felt like but I always see some B/Os put stuff in the seat to make them more comfortable I guess but only on the local buses. Are the seats for the B/Os different on various buses?
checkmatechamp13 Posted June 13, 2012 Share #1794 Posted June 13, 2012 This afternoon I saw an S59 and then a couple of minutes later, 3 S44s. I doubt they were trippers because this was about 4:45PM. Well, at least I caught one (I missed the S59, and one of the S44s passed Monsey Place because there was another one right behind him. I think the third one pulled over and waited, since there's no point in having 4 buses and then nothing for 15 minutes.

Are the seats for the B/Os different on various buses? Well the hybrids are a lot more comfortable especially with the room given for the operator's area opposed to the RTS' where you're a bit more closer to the steering wheel. NGs are always my preference in terms of comfort and operation, but that's just me. I've had some RTS seats that were stone cold flat - feel like you're sitting on reinforced card board. Not fun, at all.
Blitz Posted June 14, 2012 Share #1796 Posted June 14, 2012 Went by the construction site formerly known as MCH today, and it looks like they are making really good progress. They are already starting to put up the brick panels. I don't think It's gonna be finished in December like they want but it might be done January or February of 2013.
Mysterious2train Posted June 14, 2012 Share #1797 Posted June 14, 2012 (edited) Busfan problems: Of course, I always hear an RTS, or a C40LF, or an Orion VII... Edited June 14, 2012 by Mysterious2train
youngblaze Posted June 15, 2012 Share #1798 Posted June 15, 2012 I find the RTS seats to be the most uncomfortable (there's actually a D60hf with one in it; 5502...that one is on my avoid list lol). Every other model in the fleet has Recaro seats...unfortunately some of them have seen better days I especially hate the ones that lean to one side smh lol -- Regarding the LFSA's they will get louder in time the 1200's sound a lot louder than they did when first delivered. I had 5778 today and along with quite a few other 5770's you can hear the BOV from turbo going off now unfortunately its not as loud as the sound produced by the Orion V CNG's.
NewFlyer 230 Posted June 15, 2012 Share #1799 Posted June 15, 2012 Busfan problems: Of course, I always hear an RTS, or a C40LF, or an Orion VII... Yeh but as technology advances the buses get quieter imagine in 2015 buses won't even be heard except for the when the bus starts or overheats BTW that lady has a nice face
B17EastNewYorkDepot Posted June 15, 2012 Share #1800 Posted June 15, 2012 what the deal , why did the mta stop writing New York City Bus on the Orions .. After the NGs they stop it looks so bland . Plus MTA BUS still does it & even some of the NGs at Flatbush are getting their own removed. They removed a turn signal light on the 3Gs to put the New York City Bus ..its so corny especially when you have ample space to put it their Sign in the Blue Line - http://www.google.com/imgres?q=mta+3g+side+view&um=1&hl=en&sa=N&biw=1093&bih=538&tbm=isch&tbnid=SoZR06O9e9vCMM:&imgrefurl=http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/index.php/topic/34048-high-floor-buses-fading-away/&docid=Jkabt6QA5rT-RM&imgurl=http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7248/7001472083_b7cb2b8f42_b.jpg&w=900&h=600&ei=rErbT_GINPD06AHv-KjFCw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=117&vpy=154&dur=926&hovh=183&hovw=275&tx=136&ty=136&sig=101081619942256897476&page=1&tbnh=162&tbnw=233&start=0&ndsp=8&ved=1t:429,r:4,s:0,i:87 Sign in the Decal -http://www.google.com/imgres?q=mta+ng&um=1&hl=en&biw=1093&bih=538&tbm=isch&tbnid=U-csqt_f57hGKM:&imgrefurl=http://www.flickr.com/photos/esoteric_desi/6414312725/&docid=xK4iXDhRxZ8aPM&imgurl=http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7162/6414312725_479988ceae_z.jpg&w=640&h=480&ei=D0vbT7DEDaS26QGh8dCVCw&zoom=1
