I heard by 2 Baisley Park operators the recent Orion VII NG transfers with 4122, 4165 & 4210 they are permanently transferred to College Point. If that’s the case then CP’s Orion count is 6 units total, 4119, 4122, 4165, 4210, 4278, 4601. They do need the buses to be honest they do have a’lot of OOS buses

For the past week and a half I’ve noticed an all white New Flyer XD40 #2006 with the full roof mount in Jamaica heading towards the direction of Jamaica LIRR/Sutphin Blvd. I don’t know who owns the bus or where it’s exactly going, but it’s been interesting to see this all white non MTA/NICE bus everyday while I wait for the n4 at Archer Ave/150th street. Anyone know anything about it? I snapped a picture, but this site is stuck in the stone age in regards to posting pictures lol.

It's an employee shuttle to the Hillside facility because of track work. IIRC these are the same buses they use for events at UBS arena.

Why is CP so short on buses? doesn't seem like this is your typical C40's are in for routine inspection/maintenance. Is CP not taking care of their equipment or operators are running it into the ground? lol

The C40s are being overhauled just like at Spring Creek a few months ago when they were borrowing hybrids from JFK.

I have observed a few broken down C40LF buses over the past few months. It’s hard to believe these buses are between 11-13 years old now. CP’s has been borrowing buses from LG for a few years now but those C40LF’s have been put to work over the years. Back in the mid 2010’s LG was borrowing C40LF’s from CP and those buses were also used on subway shuttles quite often. Service increased on some of their routes. They also acquired some buses from JG so I would assume overall CP’s buses need more time in the shop now.

So a Bx32 bus hit an el pole as it approached the bus stop on Jerome & 181st earlier. 12 people were injured, but thankfully they were only minor injuries. The unit involved was New Flyer XN40 719 (And for those that love posting on the scrap thread and want to talk about this, don't do it there as buses in accidents doesn't automatically mean the bus is retired).

Has anyone noticed they changed the bus occupancy indicators on BusTime?  Gone are the approximate passenger counts, replaced by a traffic light system to tell if seats are available or not.

I just noticed that today! I wish they still included the passenger count in addition, as I don't know what their criteria are for the categories. I only saw the green "seats available", what else does it show?

I saw some with limited availability on local buses but haven't found any reds yet.

I feel like most express buses will just be green even though we all know over a certain amount, you're going to be sharing a seat with someone else.  But no real way of being able to tell that anymore...

Ugg yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. I'll send in a comment requesting that they put back the numbers in addition to the color coding, like they have on Traintime

It also broke the MTA app, which doesn't support the traffic light occupancy indicators.  Now, clicking on a bus on the route just shows ~0 passengers.

Already got burned by the new passenger count system. Get on a QM35 that is showing the green/seats available but I ended up having to share a seat because there were at least 30 people on board already. It at least needs a yellow/moderately full level, like Train Time.

I'm guessing it goes from green straight to red when 57 pax get on board an exp bus

If I had to guess, it's probably calibrated to be what a local bus would be so it's jacked up when standees are rare for an express bus but the norm for a local bus.  It really should be yellow above 25 people and red past 40.  Setting red to max seat capacity at 55 would be nuts lol.

I sent in a request to bring back the passenger count. Let's see what they say

There are reports of 7491 being oos after an earlier incident. This would be the second time this week a bus hit an el pillar and got front damage as a result

(Do not report this in the scrap thread unless it is confirmed to not be used ever again)
