YankeesPwnMets Posted January 27, 2015 Share #8677 Posted January 27, 2015 (edited) They said they are running on SUNDAY schedules, not some kind of special modified schedule. The runs from Middle Village to Essex on Sunday, and that is how they are running today. The do not run on Sundays, and they aren't running today. There is no and on Sunday, and therefore there is no Pelham/Flushing Exp today. The run express on normal Sundays and that is how they are running today. The runs to Bowling Green on Sundays, and that is how they are running today. Get the gist of what I'm saying? Trains simply running a normal Sunday schedule, as if today was Sunday. Plain and simple. There are no kids in school today and a majority of adults are staying home from work so there is no real point to run weekday service (ie. extending the ) Edited January 27, 2015 by YankeesPwnMets
MHV9218 Posted January 27, 2015 Share #8678 Posted January 27, 2015 A few notes. Most trains are being signed as trains and appear that way on the monitors, which is odd. The is running to Chambers, not Broad. The is running to Essex, but with 8-car trains. R32s and R42s are running on the .
EduardoMestre Posted January 27, 2015 Share #8679 Posted January 27, 2015 Interesting Times article on the cost tradeoffs of closing NYC Subways for storms: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/01/28/upshot/shutting-down-new-yorks-subways-is-very-expensive.html Definitely makes for a really hard decision!

RollOver Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8683 Posted January 28, 2015 What's wrong with that? It's great. Riders can easily reach any stations in Brooklyn or Queens from Manhattan. Can't wait for the Fulton and Broad to be open at all times.

Javier Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8686 Posted January 28, 2015 On another note: Im installing some LED's on my R142 Strip Map that Im gonna hook up to my sound board and my computer so I can program everything to act like a real subway car. And since the R142A's are getting converted, does anyone know how I can get my hands on one of the R142 strip maps?
Javier Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8687 Posted January 28, 2015 Or do they just throw away the strip maps in the dumpster?
Union Tpke Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8688 Posted January 28, 2015 Or do they just throw away the strip maps in the dumpster? you can try and find out by asking people in the MTA.

On another note, people were actually lined up at a few stations waiting for service to start up this morning.

Javier Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8694 Posted January 28, 2015 you can try and find out by asking people in the MTA. The question is WHO do I call or talk to. And no I bought the other map off eBay.
paulrivera Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8695 Posted January 28, 2015 I might just wait the 20-30 years it will take until the 1st generation NTTs retire and hopefully the MTA will sell some of those strip maps directly. I always wanted a rollsign too but there's no place to put it in my house.

Javier Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8697 Posted January 28, 2015 Well I mean since all (some will stay) R142A's are leaving the I thought that they could make use of the maps instead of throwing it away.
Tomtoon Posted January 28, 2015 Share #8698 Posted January 28, 2015 I'm surprised the R188's are lower than the R160's, unless it's including the conversions, then it wouldn't suprise me. Also seems strange the "A" versions of cars have a lower MBDF, unless it's because they are used more?

Also seems strange the "A" versions of cars have a lower MBDF, unless it's because they are used more? That is the case with the R62/As, all of the 62s are on a part time line where's the 62As run on three 24/7 routes. The R188 MDBF peaked at 2 million.... must be lumping them in with the conversion sets is probably why its at 230,000.

Like trainfan22 said, you gotta remember, the breakdown rates of each car are actually based on the lines they currently run on (whether it's a part-time line or a full-time line), including other cases such as CBTC or the age of a car itself. Any CBTC-related problem on the counts as a breakdown as well.
