peacemak3r Posted January 3, 2014 Share #5201 Posted January 3, 2014 Don't think the strip map itself lights up..looks more like the plaque they took from a 142 and cut it to fit in.
P3F Posted January 3, 2014 Share #5202 Posted January 3, 2014 I doubt it, none of the others do. Plus, there hasn't been any news about new equipment being added to R62(A)'s.
Kingsbridgeviewer382 Posted January 3, 2014 Share #5203 Posted January 3, 2014 It lights up to differentiate local from express? It doesn't because its a paper strip map slapped to the top, not an electronic sign.

Turbo19 Posted January 3, 2014 Share #5206 Posted January 3, 2014 For whatever reason the map looks quite theft prone.
Union Tpke Posted January 3, 2014 Share #5207 Posted January 3, 2014 Thanks a lot! It looks really nice. On a strip map there were a few mistakes, 1. The Q33 no longer goes to LGA and is still listed at 74 St 2. The Q32 is listed at 82 St going to LGA, it does not stop there, it does not go to LGA. M. Friday 1986 Posted January 4, 2014 Share #5215 Posted January 4, 2014 So I stumbled upon this earlier. Photo's by a guy name DanielRivera24 on Flickr: Says that the photo was taken just last Thursday January 2nd. Appears to be on a move to somewhere on the 145th Street IND Station. Any ideas?

N6 Limited Posted January 4, 2014 Share #5218 Posted January 4, 2014 Are there any diagrams showing how the Path and IND share 6th Ave?
NewFlyer 230 Posted January 4, 2014 Share #5219 Posted January 4, 2014 Is there a picture of the strip maps on the R62A before they all moved to the ? I know SIR's R44's have this but are all the R62/R62A's getting those blue seats to match the newer trains. I've been on a few on the that had those seats and I think there are a few cars that completely have them. The same thing was suppose to happen on the R46's.
RollOver Posted January 4, 2014 Share #5220 Posted January 4, 2014 To be honest, I was actually disappointed when fewer of the R62As and R46s got new blue seats. I think the interiors are one of the best things for each car. I frankly don't like seeing NTT-like seats on the SMEE's.
Fresh Pond Posted January 4, 2014 Share #5221 Posted January 4, 2014 Are there any diagrams showing how the Path and IND share 6th Ave? At 14 & 23 Sts, the is on the outside, PATH is on the inside, and the is below the PATH tracks
realizm Posted January 4, 2014 Share #5222 Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) At 14 & 23 Sts, the is on the outside, PATH is on the inside, and the is below the PATH tracks What I found interesting about this is why it took so long for the City of New York to get the stupid express tracks done? I mean 27 years was alot of time to wait. When the IND 6th Avenue line was built provisions were made into West 4th and 34th Street for two express tracks (Many people say provisioning in the in the mezzanines in addition to what was previously there in the right of way but I don't think that's the case), they wanted to acquire the Hudson and Manhattan tunnels that were already up and running, and use that as the express tracks, something which was planned I believe even before the construction of the IND 8th Avenue line was completed. I mean it doesn't take too much to know that the tunnels cannot accommodate IND clearances. Edited January 4, 2014 by realizm
MHV9218 Posted January 5, 2014 Share #5223 Posted January 5, 2014 I was wondering about this...are the car markers in the system the oldest signs continually left up around the stations? That's to say, just about every sign has been redesigned and replaced many times over the past few decades. But the car markers are the exact same font and shape as in the 1950s, and I wonder if some of them are even the same physical signs.

Missabassie Posted January 5, 2014 Share #5225 Posted January 5, 2014 I don't think any of them should get blue seats. Leave that to the new trains. Just my preference... Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk
