overclocked Posted September 16, 2012 Share #1451 Posted September 16, 2012 A random question, what are the obstacles, if any, towards installation of weld rail onto elevated structures?
TheSubwayStation Posted September 16, 2012 Share #1452 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) Random thought: I've been a magnet for R142As on the recently, so it would seem... Edited September 16, 2012 by TheSubwayStation
Brighton Express Posted September 16, 2012 Share #1453 Posted September 16, 2012 Haters can hate, I still think my plan of sending the back down its old rush hour route, and the to Lefferts is one of the best ways to go.
ttcsubwayfan Posted September 16, 2012 Share #1454 Posted September 16, 2012 I've heard that the mismatched R40/R42 pair has been set aside for possible preservation. Is there any truth to this?

Guest MTA Bus Posted September 16, 2012 Share #1456 Posted September 16, 2012 I just rode the . The flushing bound end was a 5 car set. A lot of the trains have the singles in numerical order and a train car in the middle.
TheSubwayStation Posted September 17, 2012 Share #1457 Posted September 17, 2012 I've got a question: how commonly are station timers found in areas that aren't stations? And, are there very many stations without them?
4P3607 Posted September 17, 2012 Share #1458 Posted September 17, 2012 I just rode the . The flushing bound end was a 5 car set. A lot of the trains have the singles in numerical order and a train car in the middle. That is because the singles are currently getting SMSed at 207th st yard, and those are no longer singles but 5 car sets. If you notice they have new motors, They sound different and they look new. There are 4 sets out there (but only 3 are being used like this) that were 5 car sets for a while and are on the south end. The only reason the Bway cars are on there is because the is short on cars (I bet that is pretty obvious), Notice when they first came on the line you would be seeing stuff like 11 singles in one train, that was because they were SMSing the 5 car sets.
S78 via Hylan Posted September 17, 2012 Share #1459 Posted September 17, 2012 I notice the R142's don't display any time within the 12:00 AM-12:59AM range and use 0:00-0:59 instead. Is there any possible reason for this?
Donald Posted September 17, 2012 Share #1460 Posted September 17, 2012 Holy shit a friend of mine was taking the from Sheepshead Bay to Kings Highway to school and took it to Grand Street because the conductor was lousy in announcements, I told him to take the because it has better announcements, we went at it with each other for a few minutes... So your friend never looked out the window to see the station names?
Threxx Posted September 17, 2012 Share #1461 Posted September 17, 2012 Could the R62 be linked up with the R62A And can the R68 be linked with the R68A. I think so, but don't quote me on that...

babylone06 Posted September 18, 2012 Share #1465 Posted September 18, 2012 Hello everybody.I come from France I'm 42,I like all kind of subways and rapid transit rail ,especially the NY Subway.I don't know if I post on the right topic but can someone tell me what would be the total lenght of the network if all the elevated lines were still in place.I think it should be beetween 280 and 300 miles (including the PATH).Thanks a lot.

j express Posted September 18, 2012 Share #1469 Posted September 18, 2012 Have anyone has been to the Cypress Hills cymmetry? TwoTimer Posted September 19, 2012 Share #1470 Posted September 19, 2012 to 168th Street. Yup, no reroute for that one, that's why trains are resigned up as 's typically before they hit 59-CC so as not to confuse anyone on the platform.
Brighton Express Posted September 19, 2012 Share #1471 Posted September 19, 2012 Random Thought: The Sea Beach Abandoned Express Track should be removed. They are pulling up the SB and rebuilding the NB from what I have seen.
MHV9218 Posted September 19, 2012 Share #1472 Posted September 19, 2012 My 6 train this morning (it was a set in the 7490s), the in-car screen (the one that usually shows the next stop / time) just read out LEXINGTON AV LCL / PELHAM LCL / PELHAM BAY PARK. No next stop, time, "this is" or any of that. What's the story with that? Is that an old version of the programming or a glitch?

Threxx Posted September 19, 2012 Share #1474 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) Before the route is completely set, sometimes that is shown, it could be a mistake on the part of the train crew. Hello everybody.I come from France I'm 42,I like all kind of subways and rapid transit rail ,especially the NY Subway.I don't know if I post on the right topic but can someone tell me what would be the total lenght of the network if all the elevated lines were still in place.I think it should be beetween 280 and 300 miles (including the PATH).Thanks a lot. The revenue length of the NYC Subway is over 600 miles alone, so I'd estimate about 1200-1400 miles all together... 200-300... My favorite G.O. code is the to Canal Street on the R46... live for the day I see that one in service lol Edited September 19, 2012 by Threxx
