GojiMet86 Posted July 19, 2012 Share #1202 Posted July 19, 2012 It's been here this summer, and last summer, too. As I know, it's been doing this summer thing for a while.

NX Express Posted July 20, 2012 Share #1205 Posted July 20, 2012 Rare GO going on right now...downtown 's express from Dyre to E180. Will run until 15:00, also midday tomorrow. How does that work? The track maps don't show any usable express tracks.
TwoTimer Posted July 20, 2012 Share #1206 Posted July 20, 2012 Trains go down Y3 from south of the station to south of morris park. They make a stop at pelham pkwy
NX Express Posted July 20, 2012 Share #1207 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) So there IS a continuous express track along the Dyre line? It's not on the track maps and I can't find it on Satellite View in G-maps. Thanks for the clarification. Mysterious2train Posted July 20, 2012 Share #1209 Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) I was up in the Bronx earlier today but the was making all stops on the Dyre Av line. I wonder if the G.O. got rained out. Also, there was another change added: It's good that some trains were eventually turned at E 180 St, I noticed trains were piling up on the Dyre Av line and arriving way too frequently. Snowblock Posted July 21, 2012 Share #1210 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Did that 5 to E180 via Y3 GO actually run yesterdat? It was cancelled today due to the weather. And btw, the GO stated that we were to BYPASS Pelham Parkway (anybody know why?). It only is accessible from just north of Pelham Parkway to E. 180, IIRC... Unless you're looking at the official track schematics issued by Operations Planning, don't believe everything you see. Those unofficial online track charts are full of mistakes. Y3 is fully intact from south of Dyre to south of Morris Park, HOWEVER there are no automatic signals on it, so it can only be used in an absolute block, with restricted speed and extreme caution. Don't be expecting the express ride of your life..... Edited July 21, 2012 by Snowblock
MHV9218 Posted July 22, 2012 Share #1211 Posted July 22, 2012 I'm sure this has been mentioned before, but about how fast does the L go in the tunnel between 1st and Bedford? The R143 I was in today was moving like anything. Brought back memories of the R42s racing down there, that was a good ride.

Q10 Airport Posted July 22, 2012 Share #1213 Posted July 22, 2012 Finally, my first time riding san R42 (#4823) on the . I haven't been in the subway section for a while so don't yell at me but how long has the R42 roamed the ? The R42 only roams around on the in the summer. I've also seen quite a few R32's on the . I'm not sure, but I think they do this in order to keep the AC's on the R32's from running overtime on the during the summer. It's a treat, though.
TwoTimer Posted July 23, 2012 Share #1214 Posted July 23, 2012 Low to mid 50s each direction (now with CBTC taking timers away). Those trains have governors, however.

Jamaica Line Posted July 23, 2012 Share #1216 Posted July 23, 2012 What's up with the under-runs at Broadway Junction s/b on the ? I've seen three-five feet under-runs yet the doors still open. After stopping short why don't they just pull up?
TwoTimer Posted July 24, 2012 Share #1217 Posted July 24, 2012 Because the train is well within station limits, there is about 15 feet behind the train when it is properly stopped with the 10 aligned with the tip of the coupler.

MHV9218 Posted July 25, 2012 Share #1219 Posted July 25, 2012 Was on the F wondering if the R42s were still running on the A, knowing I'd transfer at Jay St Metrotech. Figured there was no chance, and if there was, I'd miss it. Sure enough, F pulls into JSM and there's an R42 A sitting there...which pulls away right as I get there. Oh well.

Hey, I went some weeks ago to fan the via the . I stayed at 2nd Avenue for a good 40 minutes, and I didn't want to risk missing the R42. But I needed to fan the to Bay Pkwy, so I took the to Metrotech. The reaches Delancey Street, and guess what's on the other track? The R42.
TwoTimer Posted July 25, 2012 Share #1221 Posted July 25, 2012 Its fairly random, there are still three floating around, but because of the nature of the all three might be out there, or two, or one, or none.

IRT Bronx Express Posted July 25, 2012 Share #1225 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) This week has been lucky for me. I encountered a NIS at 59 St/Columbus Circle NB, and it was an R160 (90XX). When I returned to the Bronx hours later, I saw that same set at 167 St SB. Today, I saw that set again at 155 St SB. And here's an interesting catch. While I was waiting for the at Columbus Circle NB, the arrived on the express track while the was on the local track. It ran Central Park West EXP to 145 St, and relayed on the downtown local track! But... before the entered 145, there was a that switched to the express track (switching to the local north of 135) and possibly ran Concourse Exp around noon.
