Also my speculation for why Lexington CBTC is postponed is because the MTA still hasn’t awarded the bid for the R262 to any company yet, and spreading out the R142/A’s would leave severe service gaps. Thats precisely why it was postponed, on top of ‘s priorities changing. 11 minutes ago, Chris89292 said: so if you’ve recently seen the news, the MTA announced that it’ll soon start construction for platform barriers at 3 stations Times Square-42 Street 3rd Avenue Sutphin Blvd-Archer Avenue The design is in its final stages, Any ideas of how subway service will be affected when the project commences? My thoughts are they’ll close one platform at a time, which is logical to provide service on one track Maybe the platforms will all be closed full time but line segments where PSD Installation is taking place will be suspended on Weekends and Overnight? We’ll just have to wait and see

Just keep the passageway open from Bryant Park to the Shuttle platform open all times. the customers at 3 Av can use 1 Av or Union Square the customers can use Parsons-Archer to transfer between the two levels, and connect to the LIRR by using the open route

Meaning to provide an ADA compliant transfer, you would have to run the shuttle all times.

Ironic that before the 42 St shuttle renovation, the was the ADA compliant way to travel from Grand Central to Times Square, while the was not, and now it would be flipped. Yes you would need to run the 24/7 to make that work, especially since the will need to be suspended between Grand Central and 34 St-Hudson Yards on weekends for the door installation.

But do what you gotta do to maintain ADA Compliance at that point
Lawrence St Posted June 6, 2023 Share #29531 Posted June 6, 2023 They started removing the end flip-up seats on the A cars on R142's out of 239th St.

The company that made the flip up seats went out of business, no spare seats to replace broken ones so they are removed.

The 3rd of November would mark 20 years since the redbirds retired. Also The express tracks are available so they can run the train back and forth between 33rd and willets point without disrupting service. They are numbered out of order like this because when most of the 46 was rearranged into four car sets for the train and the train during the General Overhaul Program, the even cars had all the underlying equipment necessary to operate. The even cars mostly needed the odd cars to operate as they could not operate on their own unlike the much earlier Arnines and the R10 thru the R22. They operated as semi permanent pairs before overhaul and unification, which once made it possible for cars like 866+973+941+1054-1102+501+849+1046 to be joined together. The even only pairs (originally numbered 1228 to 1278) were the ones that could operate together as even pairs and they were later reserved for the train following the General Overhaul Program.
trainfan22 Posted June 14, 2023 Share #29543 Posted June 14, 2023 (edited) The BMT Standards will be running in passenger service between Kings Highway and 18th Ave on the line from 11:30AM to 2PM tomorrow. Most likely going back and forth on the express track. It's free, only gotta pay the 2.75 subway fare to enter the system. https://www.nytransitmuseum.org/program/bmt100/ Edited June 14, 2023 by trainfan22
