traildriver Posted October 24, 2010 Share #26 Posted October 24, 2010 The NJT, (predecessor PSCT), runs into the PABT are the main reason the PABT was built in the first place, back in 1950. To remove congestion from the streets in the area by providing a direct link from the Lincoln Tunnel to a new terminal. Also to consolidate long distance buses from up to 8 different terminals in the midtown area into one. This was finally realized in 1963 when Greyhound was persuaded to move from its two holdout terminals into the first expansion of the Port. One interesting route that is now abandoned was a New York-Jersey City-Newark local that ran down from the Port and crossed thru the Holland Tunnel.
