RTS CNG Command Posted October 6, 2010 Share #53 Posted October 6, 2010 An extension of the Bx20. Instead of ending at 246th Street, it goes to the terminal of the old Bx24: Fieldston and 253rd Street to serve the people who live there. It doesn't get relabeled. The Bx43: A local route that travels from the Einstein Hospital to the 170th Street Station. The roads are Eastchester Road (westbound), Williamsbridge Road (eastbound), East Tremont Avenue, Boston Road, Claremount Parkway, Clay Avenue, and East 170th Street to the ( and station. The route also connects to the Bx18 without having to take several routes to the hospital. It runs weekdays from 6:25 AM to 11:55 PM with fifteen- to twenty-minute headways. The Bx37 from the Mount Vernon East MNRR station to Lehman College (a reference of the Bx23 configuration on the signs). The bus travels down W 1 Street down W 11 Street, Mundy Lane, Pitman Avenue (westbound west of Baychester), East 236th Street and White Plains Road (westbound), East 233rd Street (eastbound past Byron Avnue), Edenwald Avnenue and Baychester Avenue (eastbound), Sanbridge Avenue, and Jerome Avenue. Its terminal is the Lehman College Station.

Eric B Posted October 7, 2010 Share #56 Posted October 7, 2010 Was a Fantasy....About to become a reality on 10/13/10 BW1 Boerum Hill-Atlantic Terminal / Yonkers-Empire City Casino via Downtown Brooklyn & Williamsburg Stops: Atlantic Terminal on Flatbush Avenue Smith St & Livingston Street Broadway & Havemeyer Street EXPRESS via BQE, Triborough Bridge, Major Deegan Expressway Empire City Casino & Yonkers Raceway Scheduled Run Time: 1 Hour and 10 Minutes Command actually had BW routes like that and others (BQ, etc), even printed on the 1996 express bus map though they were just specials. The routes I have been suggesting are: Q39 replacement, which would run Gates, Forest, cut cross somehow and then Rust/56 Dr to Van Dam, and then via Queens Blvd instead of Thompson. Q18/45 replacement, which would go straight down either 65th St or Pl, and into Ridgewood some way. Probably also Gates, Forest, Eliot, and then Fresh Pond, and Grand. Q58 alt. that would also take Gates, Forest, and then straight across Eliot and LIE to Flushing. Ridgewood surely needs straighter, quicker routes to the rest of Queens. What has to be worked out on the first two is changes to nearby routes to cover current areas that would be skipped.

IRT Bronx Express Posted November 21, 2010 Share #61 Posted November 21, 2010 SBS won't be implemented for the Tremont/Burnside Avenue corridors since it's one lane for two directions (east and west) past Boston Road. Just make the Bx40 limited and everything will be perfect.
Kingsbridge Bus Posted November 21, 2010 Share #62 Posted November 21, 2010 I thought of a route called Bx53 that runs from The Gateway Cntr and the Riverdale Metro-North station on 254st and palisade Ave. The route will run on Jerome ave from 161st and 174st. The bus will run up 174st to Madcombs Rd. The bus will then continue Northbound to Featherbed Ln. The the bus will then go Northbound through University Ave to Fordham Rd. The bus will the go westbound to to Sedgwick Ave. The bus will then go Northbound to Kingsbridge Rd. The line follows the Bx9 to 225st Station on the line. The bus will continue via the Bx20 route. after the end of the Bx20 route, my fantasy will go northbound on Riverdale Ave to 254st. The bus will finally make a left turn on 254st and end at the Riverdale Metro-North railroad station. Changes on southbound direction The Bx53 going southbound will make a left turn eastbound from University Ave onto Brandt Pl. The bus will then make a right turn onto Nelson ave. The bus will finally meet up with Featherbed Ln when it will meet back with the northbound side of the Bx53. This change has been made because to enter Featherbed from University ave, the bus will have to make a U-Turn at Grant-174st where its is very dangerous for any vehicle to make a U-turn. The Bx53 replaces the Bx20 route full time

aemoreira81 Posted November 21, 2010 Share #64 Posted November 21, 2010 B34 or Q52: Begin at Rockaway Parkway Station. Eastbound: Follow B6 route to Schenck Avenue. Follow Schenck Avenue to Gateway Drive; buses would make 3 stops at Gateway Mall: at BJ's, Babies-R-Us, and then on the near side of Erskine Street. Then get on the Belt Parkway to Exit 17, exit the Belt Parkway. Left at Cross Bay Boulevard, right at Pitkin Avenue to the end, make a right through Aqueduct Racetrack's parking lot and access road into JFK Airport. Follow B15 route into JFK Airport, end at Terminal 4. Return to Canarsie via same route, except using Flatlands Avenue between East 103 and Rockaway Parkway. Assignment: JFK Depot; discontinue QM18 route to make room. Frequency: every 20 minutes except during rush hour, when service is every 10 minutes. The aim would also be to save money on B6 service by short-turning alternate Limiteds at Rockaway Parkway station, and to give Howard Beach customers and customers from the Woodhaven Boulevard corridor better access into JFK Airport --- currently an undertapped market. The Q53 would have an extra stop added at Pitkin Avenue. The key would require negotiation of passage through the racetrack, where there would be a racetrack stop on racing days; it would likely not be able to work without such access. Some runs would be interlined with the Q10 Limited.
Mac Claire Posted December 24, 2010 Share #65 Posted December 24, 2010 I'd simply continue the BX-41 from Gun Hill and White Plains Rds up to 241st, have the bus turn onto 241st (becomes Baychester Av.) and make stops until reaching Boston Rd. Left on Boston Rd to Conner St, right turn and over I-95 and into Co-Op City. I haven't lived in The Bronx in many years but last I checked there was no bus service between 231st/ White Plains Rd. and Baychester/Boston Rd.
Forest Glen Posted December 25, 2010 Share #66 Posted December 25, 2010 While looking at a Bronx bus map, I realized that the Throgs Neck Bridge isn't used by any bus route. In addition, the Bronx express bus routes are forced to use local streets in Manhattan since the FDR bans commercial traffic north of 23rd Street. I propose a route that would start at the BxM9's terminal at Layton Avenue in Throgs Neck. It would make stops along the Throgs Neck Expressway service road before taking the bridge to the Clearview and then to the LIE. It would then follow a similar routing in Manhattan as the Queens express bus routes. I might even consider a BxM9A that heads to lower Manhattan. After the Midtown Tunnel, it would follow the QM25's route to Lower Manhattan. I'm not 100% sure these routes would save time, but I think it's worth a shot.
Via Garibaldi 8 Posted December 25, 2010 Share #67 Posted December 25, 2010 Create a bus route is so EASY! You can reply stops if you want to BUT it will be too much. so reply at least 2 replies only. All you do is just create your bus number and boroughs for ex (Made up or real): B40, M62, Bx66, S23, Q103, X14. After you do that, tell the northern and southern terminal stop and tell where it will be running for ex: via 18th Avenue and via 116th Street. So good luck. It beings... now! Extend it at least until Richmond Avenue on Staten Island and run it to 57th street in Manhattan. It's first/last stop would be the service road and Targee St. on Staten Island.

Though if I were to run the X40, I'd only charge $2.50-3 from Union City.(or $2.25 if the MTA runs it)

Then terminates at 34 Penn Station. Task: Assist train passengers in going to World Trade Center in times when it is re-routed to alternative route. Assist Crosstown workers in transfers. Additional Service: Extension to 42nd street during rush hours resulting in Battery Park City/South Ferry to 42nd street/Port Authority Bus Terminal.
