Wow, they've been doing a lot of renumbering in recent years. They only used to do it in major fleet remans, such as Blitz and the RTS 7000's.

I guess it's since they acquired the PBL's, with hundreds of additional buses, that it became harder to work around the existing fleet numbers when new buses are added? (Glad they didn't take the easy route and go with a five digit system, which they once tried briefly with the first Orion V's).

Didn’t see it mentioned yet, but Orion VII renumbering has begun. 145 now being the first at WF along with 146 and 147 pending. I have to confirm which units they were.

I’m just coming back from holiday and birthday vacation so I have to catch up a bit guys. Major updates coming this weekend as well.

Well, the 40 footers are dominating artic routes today!

As we all know...due to the storm, lots of 40 ft buses are running on artic routes. Looks like the Brooklyn Division is in Manhattan...along with some Manhattan Division buses too (M15, M101, M102 and M103)

From what I saw, 6829 is on the M15 heading towards South Ferry and 6618 is on the M15 heading towards East Harlem.

The Bronx is also entirely 40 footers today as well... all the Bronx loans are just Next Gens and LFS' from QV and JAM.

Manhattan snowstorm loans, presumably for today but possibly for the whole storm into Monday--will remain to be seen.

Quill: 8121, 8124, 8137, 8160, 8170, 8181, 8188, 8194, 8201, 8203, 8243, 8274, 8277, 8279, 8286, 8300, 8310, 8316 (18 buses from SI division)

TU: 3963, 3966, 4043, 4051, 4069, 4096, 4104, 4114, 4227, 4430, 4443, 4449, 4539, 4549-4550, 4557, 4564, 4567, 4569-4570, 6522, 6560, 6565, 6567-6569, 6576, 6579, 6584, 6588, 6607, 6610-6611, 6617-6619, 6803, 6806, 6808, 6810, 6814, 6823, 6826, 6829 (44 buses from Brooklyn division)

OF: 3862, 6367, 6415, 6660-6661, 6671, 6675, 6714 (8 buses from Manhattan division)

If anybody wants a last chance to see an RTS on the Manhattan crosstowns or green-dot O7 on the M1 or M7, now's a chance. The MTA has gotten most of the Manhattan artics off the road, but in its infinite wisdom the Queens artics are still out there. That will have to change or it'll be a real mess.

SI doesn't use their local buses that much as most of their routes wait 15-30 mins per bus/line

I know but in the past Yukon would give most of their non-warped NG's (and some SBS) to the Bronx and have Castleton/Charleston cover Yukon runs.

Not a move post, BUT, in my opinion, this is why 7615-7684 should have MTA Bus SBS codes in them...especially 7663-7684. JFK Depot was very quick to pull the artics off the Q52 SBS; by 3 PM, all artics were off the road, but because the rigids had chains, buses were delayed only able to go 20-25 down Cross Bay (with a posted and governed speed limit of 40). 7663-84 could have had buses loaned to JFK today for use on the Q52 to start the day to keep the artics off the road.

(As of this post, there are still 3 artics out on the Q53 SBS - likely on their final trips of the night.) The Q44 has 2 artics right now on the road, likely also on their final trips. The Bx12 is all rigids, with GH and Queens stock, and SI Division is working Quill SBS routes right now. (The B44 is a mix of regular artics and B46 rigids, with 6117 and 6119 in service.)

JFK has plenty of buses to cover the Q52 SBS. LGA has some to cover for the Q53.

Its not possible for NYCT Buses to have MTA Bus codes, because their codes overlap. (e.g. the M14A Code in NYCT is the Q114 Code for MTA Bus)

Ok before I post what I am about to below, this will be the absolute last time I ask Veteran members to PLEASE NOT have full discussions about ANYTHING other than Moves and Transfers. This is why we have no many double posts on moved. This is not the place for it and that’s the sole purpose of the Fleet & Depots thread. After today if you are not a new member/user and post in that thread, it will be deleted immediately with no warning and no questions asked. Please, and thank you all very much.

New memebers, I will just move the post and let them know this is not a place for detailed fleet discussions. After I move all these posts out of this thread later on today, that’s the last time I will mention it. So if one day you look up and your post is gone you know why.

The B35 is still using only XN60s, was hoping JG would get loaned some RTS or Hybrids, oh well.

Naw, there were a few extra 40’s out on the road. Remember 4 regular runs are 40 foot runs as well. The whole line isn’t artic.

Flatbush and Casey Stengel are still running artics on the B44 and Q44 SBS.

Flatbush had quite a few of the XD40’s on the 44+

It is actually possible. Some of the codes just have to be changed. That day is already on the horizon and when the new fareboxes  and radios one in the codes will be revised, and any bus can be loaned or transferred at anytime.

It’s nowhere as simple as just adding codes. The fareboxes and the radios have to be swapped out as well. The codes are the least of the issues here. Note what I mentioned above. What you are talking about was addressed about 3 years ago and the post-merger MTA will be able to do this. It’s just not possible right now.
