rockdove Posted June 20, 2010 Share #1 Posted June 20, 2010 I saw today what looked like several white speakers installed at the platforms (at the top of the wind screens) of the 36th Ave station in Astoria, and the vicinity appears like its 'under construction'. Does anyone know what they are for and if they are installed at any other stations? If I had to guess I would say the speakers will externally broadcast the announcements that will be made on the R68A Q trains coming soon to Astoria, making functionality equivalent to the R160. EDIT: or maybe just for automated announcements about approaching trains.

rockdove Posted June 21, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted June 21, 2010 I didn't get pics yet. That was actually Broadway. 36 AV has the speaker mounts only. Anyone else seen them?
