Eric Kreszl Posted March 2, 2008 Share #1 Posted March 2, 2008 Hello Everyone, I was up in South Amboy today and took some photos. I was not up there very long but I was able to look at the construction work on the South Amboy Station. Here are the photos. http://erickreszl.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1068421 http://erickreszl.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1068423 http://erickreszl.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1068426 http://erickreszl.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1068428 Enjoy, Eric P.S. Pablo M 201 Posted March 3, 2008 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2008 Nice shots. If knowing construction like that is going at the station, I would wear boots to try to get onto the trains.....
NewJerseyT Posted March 3, 2008 Share #3 Posted March 3, 2008 So how do you get on the train? Walk across the ballast to the doors? Little of topic but is Hazlet still low level?

Yep all you do is walk across the ballast to the doors. Hazlet is high level. I'm not sure when it was converted though. Eric
Brighton Local Posted March 3, 2008 Share #5 Posted March 3, 2008 Awesome shots Eric, so tell me, what are they exactly doing in regards to construction over there? I see another track with cement ties, behind the gates?(NJT)

I see another track with cement ties, behind the gates?(NJT) From What I know they are converting South Amboy station into a High Level Platform for the North Jersey Coast Line trains. The platform will be a center Island Platform. The side track that is north of the station is called the Church Running track. This is what the local freight train WPSA31 uses to access the North Jersey Coast Line. The track is not yet connected to the NJCL yet. I guess that track will be connected once the platform work is complete. Eric
NJTransitFan Posted March 3, 2008 Share #7 Posted March 3, 2008 Once the high platforms are built it will be easier to exit the train. I should be good all around for everyone.
