TransitStop Posted May 7, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted May 7, 2010 Very nice to see the new busses, but do you know where the old Busses are going to, ? we are assuming there are going back to New flyer industries for either scrap or something else we are only getting the new buses becuase the S50 engine cannot perform to its standerds
D.J. Posted May 7, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 7, 2010 From the looks of things, its getting a Cummins ISL. Any word on the transmission yet?
TransitStop Posted May 7, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted May 7, 2010 no word yet there are very little details but it would most likely be the most common transmission for a NFI bus
theaveragejoe Posted May 8, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 8, 2010 I think its LFs, Chicago rejected about that many DE60LFs, I think those are coming to OC Transpo. New Flyer didnt start building those buses yet for Chicago but did this OC Transpo deal to keep workers working as they booked in space for the Chicago order. Also there is way too more for this story involving OC transpo and New Flyer in general then to get into here

theaveragejoe Posted May 9, 2010 Share #13 Posted May 9, 2010 Ahh ok. New Flyer is buying back Ottawa's D60LF's in this deal as they have been nothing but problems for Ottawa. This deal is more to keep Ottawa a New Flyer customer as Ottawa was looking at Double Deckers from Dennis and Orion VII NG HEV's

East New York Posted May 10, 2010 Share #19 Posted May 10, 2010 I think one of the biggest mistakes New Flyer ever made was the the decision to power the D60's with the S50. They should have come with the S60! They are seriously underpowered when they get old.
TransitStop Posted May 10, 2010 Author Share #20 Posted May 10, 2010 definetly and from the way OC Transpo uses them im not surprised at the condition of the buses
