Guest MTA Bus Posted May 3, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2010 I was on my way home today when i saw something that surprised me. I was at Broadway Junction and i heard a r160 train coming from the yard. i looked at the car number and it was in the 9900s. I was wondering when they get those new R160s.Then i realized that eny didn't get the new r160s until now. it may and they just get them. mta is slow at assinging new subway cars. RTOMan Posted May 3, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2010 IIRC, these New R-160 9900's are supposed to be working on the new in late June. But, I am not sure why it went into service so early. Anyways, very great catch, ! No that wasnt the case... They was Burn Testing on the and (M2) and since the Cut is being worked on they had no choice but to put them in serivce on the or (M2). DOB2RTO Posted May 3, 2010 Share #8 Posted May 3, 2010 Kawasaki delivered some more cars last week. Not only did I see them on Broadway (I was leaving 240st yards), Highway 1 who was escorting them in NYC (NYPD Highway unit), had us go through a red light at VCP South at Bailey Ave, so those trucks could make their wide turn. Would have taken a pic, but I don't want to be the cause of anyone, creaming their pants...........
RTOMan Posted May 3, 2010 Share #9 Posted May 3, 2010 Also, thanks for the consist info and time it left, will it ever go in service again at the 1626 slot? Not sure. One is at work now...

Grand Concourse Posted May 4, 2010 Share #23 Posted May 4, 2010 Nope just was curious the aint my home line lol.Well they would have to be on the since the c/r would be in the 3rd or 5th car and wouldn't be lined up at the same position as an R160.But not to worry, should there be a shortage, they can still run an R32 on the if there's a need to fill a gap in service
