  1. Go ahead, laugh 😂. I'm laughing at myself as well. I hate the metrocard. Been waiting years for contactless! I hate the metrocard even more now because my transit benefits card isn't capable of NFC. Only time I use OMNY is if I'm paying with my own money. With the OMNY card I can add money to it from my benefits card via the OMNY website. Question...OMNY cards can last 7 years...anyone know how much money you can add onto the card? Is there like a $500 limit now or still $99? Also, if you lose a OMNY card, is that money lost or can you just activate a new card and the money on file in your account gets synced to that one?
  2. I asked them at 7/11, they said no. Then I looked around the entire store because I really wanted and couldn't find it. I did the same at CVS, walked around the whole gift card rack and then asked them. After these two fails, I just walked in the other stores and asked the cashier if they had any and I got "No", "Nope".
  3. I'm done looking for the OMNY card. Went into 7/11, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Duane Reade and NONE of them knew wtf I was talking about, but people said they got it from those SPECIFIC locations. Like not just any 7/11, I went into the exact 7/11 they said they got it from but the workers had no idea when I showed them the pic. Until the MTA says exactly where it's at (like how they said what subway and bus lines have it) I'm not looking/buying it.
  4. That one wasn't officially posted as OOS, it was just speculation.
  5. Do yall think the LIRR would change car lengths down the line? Instead of 85ft cars, go down to 70ft cars to increase the number of doors per train, which would increase the number of cars automatically. Do you think we can see BART style cars running on the LIRR? The LIRR can definitely use some articulated open gangway cars, probably linked in 4-5 car sets. Those trains get so crowded during rush hour and they are not designed for standees.
  6. I could've caught that bus on the M55 on Sept 24, but the driver didn't wanna open the door at State St when I tried to transfer from the SIM35.
  7. So far, only 7001 survived. Doesn't seem like those loan term loaners will be sent back any time soon.
  8. After trying months to get the BusTime team to fix the S86 and S90 routes, and they REFUSED to fix them, that's when I realized this agency is garbage and full of corrupt leaders.
  9. The S79 needs like 20 LFSAs as backup because service is horrendous this Fall. And what's going on with the passenger counters on the buses? None are working on any SI lines.
  10. They can probably do that, increase the option order by 10 buses or so. Instead of CAS getting 20 buses they can get about 30-35.
  11. Apparently 30 more buses might be heading that direction smh. If you can find numbers to the heavily flooded buses I'd appreciate it.
  12. Bruh 30 buses is A LOT. That's so f**ked up. That's the MTA fault Castleton BEEN prone to flooding idk why it takes such a loss for shit to get fixed.
  13. Corresponding just means making the same cross street stops but on the parallel street the bus is detoured on. For example, the Staten Island express buses that run on 6th Ave up to Central Park. They stop at 6 Av/23 St 6 Av/34 St 6 Av/42 St sometimes they have buses run VIA 8th Ave to get uptown to Central Park if 6th Ave is blocked due to parades or whatever, the bus would stop at the following corresponding stops along 8th Ave; 8 Av/23 St 8 Av/34 St 8 Av/42 St
  14. I can confirm that 8704 is on the S40. Just saw it heading towards the ferry at Richmond Terr/Broadway. The run number began with 3xx so I'm assuming it was on the S40 all night. @Ultimategamer12c @TomaszSBklyn
  15. train sliding down tracks while serving the Bedford Ave station. Was this recent and has what caused this to happen? Has it ever happened before? https://www.instagram.com/p/CSrbxXgAKTv/?utm_medium=share_sheet
  16. That's exactly what's going on. Pple think the machine is supposed to know what card you want to use when you have multiple cards on top of each other. People create their own problems that's why I pay them no mind.
  17. What's up yall. Quick question...do all subway lines have an official shuttle bus routing from terminal to terminal? Or are they custom? Trying to put together a map of all part-time shuttle bus routes in the city.
  18. And this is my thing with the MTA. The the new XD60 clearly have acceleration and transmission issues and they still have the buses modified. Why not just remove the LBSS and let the buses do what they need to do. You have depots operating in manually mode and holding the bus in gears to get more power... like they're doing too much for such little savings.
  19. Mann those 5600 D40LFs will be some of my all time favorite buses. I still don't understand how they managed to get those buses to sound like that, and why they even sounded like that. It's like putting a H pipe exhaust on a muscle car.
  20. You know what's interesting about the M9s? They over 90% of the time are running late... Like every M9 I catch is always over 5 mins late. The ones I track are always 2-3 mins late. I've never been seen an M9 ahead of schedule, and I've never been on an M9 that hit over 75mph on a 80mph zone. Why aren't these trains pushed as much as the M7s are?
  21. That's true, but even so I understand the congestion in the city but it's really vision zero that changed the driving culture at the MTA. They essentially promote that you can drive as slow as possible in the name of safety and screw up schedules and still be paid (and even paid extra if you're late at the end of the day), so it's like why haul safely if it's not appreciated when you can drive slow, maybe blow a trip, get put in place, and still get paid. A supervisor told me the MTA is not designed to be a reliable and perfect system because then there wouldn't be as many jobs and the union is very strong and they're about having as many jobs as possible available. If everything is fixed and perfect then about 20% of its employees would be not needed. As for the XE60s, they last throughout the day so they only need to charge them in the depot. When the electrics become more common they'll install on the route chargers in the layover spots to keep the buses charged throughout the day. I'm curious to how they plan on calculating layover charging (between a driver coming back late, the various layover/swing times). Makes me wonder if certain runs will use electric buses and they'll have a paddle note for the drivers to charge during this time period (if the layovers are 15 or more minutes).
  22. They sure do! I like almost the entire LACMTA fleet, even their NABI 60-BRT CNGs. And the way LACMTA set up their XE60s on the Orange Line is what made me like the XE60s, because between the MTA and those M14 drivers, I wasn't feeling them. Check out this XE60 absolutely HAULING on the Orange Line! Nahh check out this XE60 actually HAULING. Between quick acceleration and top speed these buses are ELITE. Also here's a throwback video of when I first was getting into LACMTA and came across this video. This is when I was like yeah they ABSOLUTELY HAUL out there in LA. And those NABI CNGs have some crazy sound effects.
  23. The older buses feel more sturdy even though the suspension is loose. The A/C does pump low but the bus is still cool (I assume that's because there's always less than 10 people on the bus when I catch them). I wonder what the A/C is like on these when it's crowded and all that body heat is radiating.
  24. The ride quality is so bad compared to the 2015-2016 ones...and they rattle so much.
