  1. There was like a 3 week period where the MTA was running weekday schedules after the stay at home orders. Were they not collecting rider data to see what was being utilized at the time by essential workers? Throwing the Sunday express schedule was the dumbest thing they could've done. If anything, being from Staten Island. The SIM1, SIM3C, SIM4C, SIM6, SIM10, and SIM33C should've been running on a 15-20 min schedule for weekday rush hours and then regular off peak service other hours.
  2. This right here is the problem. 90% and more people think essential workers are city workers and nurses, etc. This is a big no, when Cuomo first said at only essential services can stay open and that all non essential businesses must close, I did a quick Google search to see what was concerned an essential service. Essential services : 1. Essential Health Care Operations, Including: research and laboratory services hospitals walk-in-care health facilities emergency veterinary and livestock services elder care medical wholesale and distribution home health care workers or aides for the elderly doctor and emergency dental nursing homes, or residential health care facilities or congregate care facilities medical supplies and equipment manufacturers and providers 2. Essential Infrastructure, Including: utilities including power generation, fuel supply and transmission public water and wastewater telecommunications and data centers airports/airlines transportation infrastructure such as bus, rail, or for-hire vehicles, garages hotels, and places of accommodation 3. Essential Manufacturing, Including: food processing, manufacturing agents, including all foods and beverages chemicals medical equipment/instruments pharmaceuticals sanitary products telecommunications microelectronics/semi-conductor agriculture/farms household paper products 4. Essential Retail, Including: grocery stores including all food and beverage stores pharmacies convenience stores farmer's markets gas stations restaurants/bars (but only for take-out/delivery) hardware and building material stores 5. Essential Services, Including: trash and recycling collection, processing and disposal mail and shipping services laundromats building cleaning and maintenance child care services auto repair warehouse/distribution and fulfillment funeral homes, crematoriums and cemeteries storage for essential businesses animal shelters 6. News Media 7. Financial Institutions, Including: banks insurance payroll accounting services related to financial markets 8. Providers of Basic Necessities to Economically Disadvantaged Populations, Including: homeless shelters and congregate care facilities food banks human services providers whose function includes the direct care of patients in state-licensed or funded voluntary programs; the care, protection, custody and oversight of individuals both in the community and in state-licensed residential facilities; those operating community shelters and other critical human services agencies providing direct care or support 9. Construction, Including: skilled trades such as electricians, plumbers other related construction firms and professionals for essential infrastructure or for emergency repair and safety purposes 10. Defense defense and national security-related operations supporting the U.S. Government or a contractor to the US government 11. Essential Services Necessary to Maintain the Safety, Sanitation and Essential Operations of Residences or Other Essential Businesses, Including: law enforcement fire prevention and response building code enforcement security emergency management and response building cleaners or janitors general maintenance whether employed by the entity directly or a vendor automotive repair disinfection 12. Vendors that Provide Essential Services or Products, Including Logistics and Technology Support, Child Care and Services: logistics technology support for online services child care programs and services government owned or leased buildings essential government services That's a pretty long list. And while some can work online, others cannot. Think about the companies on that list, and think about the labor of their job, some people cannot work from home. There's also a lot more things that are considered essential that I really thought weren't, so shutting down the MTA is not even a thought...and to be quite honest...automation doesn't impact service...don't let this be a push for MTA modernizing and cutting jobs left/right. @Via Garibaldi 8 thank you for the update...I quite honestly cannot stand when drivers aren't on the same page. These inconsistencies and do whatever type attitudes are the reason why the customers are always entering with an attitude the will to start an issue (still does not justify yesterday's behavior on the passengers part, because if they really cared about safety they would've got off the bus at Fingerboard instead of letting the driver pull off onto the bridge). Why would passengers get on in the first place is my question? Why call for a backup bus and have buses waiting at Fingerboard? If anything...buses should be at the midpoint of routes..for example...the SIM1C...have some buses start at New Dorp like the SIM11 does...what's the point of having a back up bus to take people OFF of a bus that's ALREADY too full? The point is to not let the buses get PAST 22 people...so if all those people are getting ON the bus, AND the driver is allowing it....you're consenting to willing expose yourself to the virus. Plain and simple, all wrong on both sides. *please excuse any grammar issues, I'll edit if needed
  3. After the way they cursed that driver out on that SIM1C bus, f**k them...and I'm from S.I but this is outrageous. For those customers to curse out that bus driver because the higher ups f**ked up the service, is just blatantly wrong. I now see why Staten Island express riders got slapped in the face with the redesign, they're disrespectful complaining a**holes that can never be satisfied. Yes the redesign was a mess but the same 50 people out of 12,000 were complaining (sarcastic numbers). In this situation, the entitlement shows...if the driver picks them all up and makes communication that the bus is full and people continue to get on, that's at their discretion. If the driver bypasses all the stops, because the bus is maxed out at 22 people, they'll also complain about that...it's also another problem. Not the drivers fault that the higher ups provided shitt service, but people aren't gonna listen regardless, and that's why he called them a**holes. It's like these riders can't make decisions for themselves. I'm sorry I'm all for better service but after seeing those scumbags IDGAF what happens at this point, don't disrespect the drivers that grind daily for you. It's ridiculous at this point...I'd put local buses out on the routes at this point to protect drivers and keep them 10ft away from all riders. Note: No I do not know the driver involved.
  4. London is so classy! America, especially NYC...could NEVA compete... Look at this video;
  5. Idk what they're doing lol, I've been checking YouTube to try to see how buses look with the rear door boarding, how they look with the front blocked off, but I'm barely finding anything. I'm curious to see how the LIRR is operating, as well as the subways. Obviously be smart, safe, and healthy. I'm following stay home orders but I would love to see all these interesting things going on. Who's taking one for the team?🤣 nahh lemme stop...
  6. 2019 LFS 8609, the one that just ran on the SIM1C, got into an accident earlier today. Driver was taken to the hospital, possible leg injury...awaiting details. Hope the driver is alright, and it's nothing covid related. https://www.silive.com/news/2020/04/victory-boulevard-blocked-in-meiers-corners-due-to-crash.html Note: I only said "covid related" because of the impacts this virus is having across the world. Obviously whatever caused it is also serious as well, but with covid stopping things left and right, the last thing one would want to hear is covid stopping / shutting down other stuff because it impacts people's work.
  7. I remember riding the RTS with the express seats when they used to put them on the B36 specials from my junior high school. My favorite seat was the double seat forward facing behind the rear door. I graduated from junior high school in 2011...so this was definitely 2009-2010 around that time. Thats actually what made me get into transit. Riding the bus home, at the time I didn't know what nothing was called. I used to ride the typical B36 buses as normal...then when I noticed the different "meaner" sound some of those buses made, and how much faster they operated. I just kept Googling information. Eventually, I payed attention to the fleet numbers and realized buses that start with 8 and 9 are regular sounding and buses that begin with a 5 are the "mean" sounding ones. Turns out I was noticing the distinct sounds between the Allison transmission RTS and the ZF transmission RTS at Ulmer Park. I'd never forget the days I rode the B4 for the first time and those buses had the red stop request buttons. I thought those were emergency stop buttons and told my friends to be careful holding onto the poll so that they don't accidentally hit it😂. Good times. Then by 2010 I was aware of how buses worked, and had the time of my life when all of those new buses came in 2011, almost like a rush of excitement. I was chasing LFS, XD40s, Orion 3Gs, C40LFs all over South Brooklyn. That was my transit spark.
  8. That destination sign reading looks beautiful on the Novas. Nice and full and not split like on the Prevost. Here's a YouTube video:
  9. Apparently next week or the one after will start a Emergency Sunday schedule, where certain routes that don't run on weekends would run their midday peak frequencies, there would be enough local buses to cover all express runs if needed. At this point no one should be complaining about seats as those buses are free, and only frequent essential riders should be using it anyways. Yeah there's certain Yukon buses that have their governors removed because of the S89. If they're removing more...I'm not sure at the moment. X27 and X28 operators would use XD40s, those routes definitely do not need artics in this situation. Also, I don't even think artics are at Ulmer Park since the conversion is delayed because of the virus closing schools (and almost everything now).
  10. Bruh 2019 LFS 8609 is on the SIM1C!! I'm hearing they're about to start putting local buses on the express routes to avoid any contact with the drivers. Even though this is a crisis, some interesting things are happening across the city. Would love to see photos and videos but of course that's at your own risk. Edit: Governors are being disabled on the buses.
  11. You know...reasons why this country is suffering the most is because of the lack of uniformity and entitlement in people. If everyone coordinated and the US government acted from the very beginning...this could've cleared up by now. Look at the London Underground...NYC could do the same if people cared....nobody cares about anything but themselves...one pple have the symptoms or know someone who's suffering, then they finally listen.
  12. I'm referring to round trip lol...you don't just take a train one direction. $19.75 one way, Peak...Zone 10 to Penn Station. The most expensive is $30.50 from Zone 14 to Zone 1...Peak... which is $61 round trip.
  13. This is my only concern with this back door boarding and free rides. The trains are filled with homeless now, buses are becoming a free for all in Staten Island with bums and drunks riding around the island...wtf. I'm not gonna lie, must be nice with the LIRR situation...I pay $39.50 a day 😐.
  14. Why can't you guys just take a longer swing and leave 5 mins late? Dragging along the street just causes traffic backup, especially if it's a single way street. I've never been a fan of dragging along a line, either leave 5 mins late (since that's what happens on a regular anyways), or sit at each stop or stops that don't interfere with other bus routes. Oh, and please, communicate with the passengers if you're sitting at stops to make sure that you aren't ahead of schedule. Communication is key, and I've only seen 2 drivers in S.I communicate with passengers. Other times, someone would walk up to the driver asking what's the hold up and the driver catches an attitude. Most pple don't experience a driver sitting at stops if people aren't getting on or its a red light, and some people don't use common sense, especially if they're not used to schedules. A little communication, especially when providing a service for people, goes a long way.
  15. Shiett I will, the MTA needs rider feedback and taxpayer's feedback. We're paying for the shit we should have feedback and they should be openly listening to us.
  16. Basically just play the stand clear of the closing doors announcement and close the doors. That's basically what all automated systems do. The doors will recycle until all doors are closed.
  17. With CBTC, can and trains run with only the T/O or only the conductor if needed?
  18. Thanks for that logical answer! I completely forgot about that, well then yes, I see why they had to go that route. And I'm guessing NYCT doesn't want those buses touched. Whatever new batch of XD60s LGA gets (most likely 15 buses), needs to be specifically made for the Q70, and they also need another batch of artics specifically made for the M60.
  19. They need to order a specific batch of artics for the Q70. So since they make all of the decisions, they need to make SMART decisions. That seating layout is very stupid for people with luggage, and whatnot. They need a batch with suburban seating and two sets of luggage racks.
  20. honestly...although I think the Q70 SBS should be a people mover type SBS bus. They should remove some more seats on those buses. Them buses can get pretty crammed with all the luggage regardless of size. So if they do manage to get another batch of buses, they should spec them to automatically come with luggage racks and possibly bench seating on the lower portion for flexibility and mobility.
  21. they should've use those 13 NYCT XD60s for the Q70 SBS until they get a new batch of artics for the Q70. Wrapping 13 2020 XD60s in the LGA Link wrap, and using 2020 and 2017 XD60s on the Q53 just triggers my OCD. And that yellow under the LGA Link wrap is irking me. They clearly know the bottom portion of the bus is wrapped in the local scheme with the SBS paint undernearth. They could've just took the yellow off the back so the light blue can show under the LGA Link wrap (unless those 2020 XD60s aren't staying on the Q70).
  22. Thanks. So its still up in the air. But apparently 1300 is built with NYCT decals. I thought the takeover of those routes wasn't gonna happen?
