  1. Ok, Ill be going to Brooklyn on Saturday and I am looking to ride a 1996 Flatbush RTS, is there a specific route they are used most hevially on? And also Id like 2 ride on one of the last SC 05 CNG's, are they more common on the 100 or the 103, just wondering, looking to ride these buses before they are retiered.

^ What he said about the 1996s; as for the O5s, I can tell you the C40s are definitely being favored on the 103, and not just because there are so few O5s left. It's practically all C40s now with a sprinkling of hybrids, I've had more luck with JG O5s than SC O5s recently. For that reason, I'd try the B100 but it's all about luck. Weekend is gonna have fewer old buses, btw.

  2. Same for 100th Street. Some of those buses are getting hit already with ads. UP & QV did at least 60 days before they slapped the ads on their buses.

Spotted 8990 in question yesterday on Mad & 34th with a partical rear wrap. Looks like 126th is getting rid of it.

Nah, 126th probably just sent it out for a day, should be back by now. Most of the ops I've spoken to on loaner buses have driven them right back to 126th after one run.

For instance, today's loaner is 9639, running on the M3 for a change. Should make a run down and up and be back at 126th soon.

  3. Yesterday, finally drove an ex-FP bus, #9594 - piece of shit. No power whatsoever.

Lol, guess that was a bit of a letdown! I maintain the best buses out of FB these days are the some of the 9600s (9644, 9445 anybody?) and some of the 5100s. I even like the 8860s but I'm sure those are a pita as an op.

  4. Which route?

    PMed you, on the M1.

Gotta say, 9641 was a beast. Transmission slip on that thing was ridiculous and my man at MHV was loving it, he was just flooring that thing on takeoff and letting it rev while waiting for the clutch to disengage -- good stuff. Not to mention, that bus confirmed my thinking the ride on an RTS is a thousand times better than on an OG (or moreso an NG): hit the usual bump by 14th St. and whereas I've had OGs that have bounced and skidded and NG where passengers screaming at the bang, the RTS just floated over. I miss those buses.

Edit: 9638 is also at Mannyville for the M1.

  5. New loaner of day for Mannyville.. 9494 on the M7.

Just wondering, when'd you see that? Would love to catch an RTS on the 7.

    9639 on the M1 today.

Just to tally it all up, on different days the past couple weeks 126th has sent 9424, 9427, 9493, 9494, 9498, 9499, 9632, 9639, 8989, and 9216 for service on the M1, M2, M3, and M7 (they also sent 3898-3899 to be transferred). Quill has sent 5243 and 6742 which ran on the M3 and M2. 100th has sent 6762 and 6781, don't remember what lines those hit.

  6. I can't figure out how this new quote system works on my phone but 8989 and 9499 are both at 126th right now. Both drove by my as i was walking to the lunch room.

9499 was definitely a loaner, that was just a put-in.

But from what I had heard, 8989 was staying at Mannyville, having been running on the M1 the past couple days. Guess not. Shame, but they'll probably send out a few RTSes tomorrow as well.

It's the quote button on the righthand side of the post, btw.

  7. Welcome back nyctf!!!!! Some news .#1, 9002 is at CP for what ever reason. Its not staying there repaint?. #2 8989 was seen on the M-1 with MHV stickers on it. # 3, 3634 is now at the JFK depot. #4, 9319 is scrap.

Actually Tom, sorry to have snapped at you earlier, I stand corrected.

8989 is a Manhattanville bus. No stickers, but it's out of Mannyville now from what I'm told, see how long that's for. Just saw it on the M1 again.

On that note 9499 was on loan to Manhattanville today as well, along with 6781. Two RTSes in a day, I like that!

No stickers, I rode that bus and took shots of it (up soon). As I said above, MHV gets an RTS loaner once to twice a day.

    5864-5871 all at Tuskegee.

  9. Few moves of the past few days:

5867-5871 delivered to Tuskegee (haven't seen 5866 yet but 5864-5865 are there)

    6762 heads to Manhattanville

    6766 heads to Tuskegee

Most of Tuskegee's buses, save for the earliest 5300s, are now stickered with TG stickers.

Latest Mannyville loaners were 9498 yesterday and 8989 today, the latter I rode on the M1 Limited and grabbed a few of shots of which I'll be posting up soon enough.

  10. The obvious answer is there, though.I seriously have a problem with bikers riding in areas they shouldn't be riding in, such as keeping up next to the bus, or cutting in front of the bus; basically doing the stupid shit we all wish against.

I was on the M2 once and there was this biker darting in and out of traffic around the bus. After a few blocks, seemed like he was gone, but then there's this huge thump. Bus stops and everybody on the sidewalk runs over. I don't if he was stoned or just out of it, but it turned out he'd gone kamikaze on us and rode straight into the side of the bus and fallen over. Guy was alright and all and the bus didn't take any damage, but talk about going too close...
