  1. I wish I knew, I don't get anything with the way the MTA has been speccing buses recently, both aesthetically and internally. Prolly why we keep seeing retrofits and re-configurations (XD40 trannies, decaling, SBS lights, the like).

Felt like the old days on the B103 today, 7215 and 7216 were both right behind each other, haven't seen that in a while. Up on 125th, ended up seeing another combo that just looks strange to me, 6036 and 5780 both on the M100. First LFSA I've seen on the M100 (aren't those sposed to be on the 9?), and I forget that 6036 isn't at CS any more.

Sad story though, I'm on the B62 and this really hot girl is next to me and after a couple minutes she turns to talk and of course, I'm expecting the holy proposal itself...turns out she was asking how to ring the bell since she couldn't figure it out. I think my face dropped nice and quick on that one. Then she presses the tape and she gets all excited when the bell goes off. Killed me.

  2. Lazy could be the wrong word, but I do think a lot of what they say is trying to justify the current system as opposed to be willing to dramatically change things. All they'll really radically do is add pedestrian plazas, which are of debated legitimacy. It's complicated, since unsynced lights mean major changes in speed at the lights (stopping, accelerating) while synced lights run the risk of really high speeds going past the lightw. I say we put in roundabouts!

  3. I gotchu. Gotta say though it's pathetic that it's 2012 and we still got major roads like Utica, Flatbush, even Canal St. in the city without timed lights. Save a lot of time for everybody with synced lights, fewer accidents too with the smoother traffic. DOT's too lazy and nobody wants to/can afford to pay so it stays like that, ridiculous.

  4.

My motto is: if you wasn't in the bus stop 5-10 minutes before the time I'm "scheduled" to be there, then you wasn't there at all.

Fucck what you heard. And many other operators do the same - especially if we're trying to get our passengers to a connecting bus or train.

    BE IN THE BUS STOP!

When I'm a hawk, the motto is to be in the stand 15-20 minutes before the time I'm supposed to be there.

BusTime will alleviate all issues though.

It doesn't get me angry when an op's running hot since I tend to get on at the first stop of a lot of lines so it doesn't matter much to me, but that said, you never gotten trouble from supervisors for running that hot? I always hear the stories from ops over at Mannyville about supervisors busting balls for running even a few minutes hot. Spose that hawks don't have too many supervisors to worry about though...

  5. man 4248 has been there fir a while & they just hvaent change the decal

& no one has seen 4220 on a ENY run & is 4596 still only on the 15

    & thanks for the info

Np, btw 4220 has been seen, check Adam's post in the photos.

With all the swaps going on, and assuming 4596 and 4220 are loaners, wouldn't it have been simpler to give ENY 4248 and 4278 to borrow? Imo, the fewer the swaps, the simpler...

I agree, but who even knows. I gotta assume they're only loaners based on how random the numbers are, but who knows.

  6. A NG at Eastchester? I must be dreaming

According to TJ Trainman it's there for maintenance, not service. For some reason they registered it.

So I had no idea how bleak it is at JG these days, combining the database and Ciboii's reports these are all the C40s left in service:

    802, 806, 818-819, 825-826, 831-833, 839, 844-845, 847, 862-863, 868, 873, 877-878, 881, 883, 886, 888, 901-907, 920, 923, 925, 931-932, 934, 936, 941, 943, 945, 953, 955-958, 962-963, 965-969, 971, 973, 975, 979-980, 983-984, 987

    (60 buses)

The database lists 74 buses still in service, but according to Ciboii 14 of those are being held OOS.

  7. Anyone know if that NG is still at ENY

  8. I don't think WF has a tripper on the Bx4A but yesterday I saw 7690 possibly as a loaner to GH on the Bx4A

I see Mannyville NGs running on the M96/M106 some mornings and they don't technically have trippers there either, could just be a single run, no? 7690 is listed as a WF bus anyway, as of this afternoon.

    960 , 837 , 885 scrap now , 432 , 35 , 36-38 at Gleason along with 4957 .

Darn just saw 885 on the B16, more biting the dust each day.
