  1. Back on Tuesday, I think it was, I rode a PM Rush Hour in service to New Lots Avenue. I think it was the same New Lots-bound train I was on where all the passengers were booted off at Utica over a week ago, but I'm not sure (It was about a few minutes later, but all the trains seemed to be delayed a bit, so that could explain it) There was a conductor switch at Utica, though. A fair amount of people got on there, although some people didn't get on; I guess they were content waiting for the or something. For no real reason other than the lulz, I decided I'm not going to use Avenue H ( until the renovation is complete in about three weeks. 'Til then, I'll just use the (B8)
  2. The should look into putting an officer or two at Nostrand Av and Fulton St bus stop. Seems to be one of the premier "enter-through-the-back-door" stops on the B44. Also, today, Con Ed was doing construction (construction as in, the entire area was inaccessible) on the near side of Nostrand Av and DeKalb Avenue where the bus stop was located, so everybody just waited on the far side of Nostrand & DeKalb instead. Basically, the local came first, so everybody piled on that, and it quickly became pretty crowded. We were making almost every stop. I was waiting to see how long it would be until a Limited passed us. It wasn't all the way until we were between Empire Blvd and Clarkson Av, around Midwood St. Between Midwood St and Church Av though, two more Limited buses passed us after that. Yesterday, when I was at Williamsburg Bridge Plaza, there were four B46s lined up together (compared to only one B44) which makes me think of the thread "Horrible Weekday Service on the B46" ironically. In fact, yesterday evening on the B44 Limited, people at Flushing, Myrtle, and Dekalb all passed up the local bus in front of us just to get on the Limited. Couple that to the fact the bus was already getting pretty full after the first two stops (Williamsburg Bridge Plaza and South 8th St) and we were already SRO by Dekalb Ave. Honestly, I thought that the Limited out of Williamsburg Bridge Plaza would be pretty empty until Flushing Av or something. I was pretty wrong on that count.
  3. If we're gonna post fan-animated Dragon Ball Z videos...
  4. Eh, I'm not all that familiar with the X1 and S79 to the point where I can muse about scheduling and dispatching. The S79 is kinda long from end to end, definitely. The others can help you with your queries B) Really? because the runs going to Kings Plaza during PM Rush actually aren't that bad. For the first part of PM Rush, the vast majority of the B46 trips (local and LTD) run down to the Plaza. It's not really until after 6 PM-ish that the short turns to Avenue H start cropping up (for both the local and LTD). Going up from the Plaza, people line up to board each B46 in good numbers, despite the fact that buses arrive almost like fire. Granted, you do have to consider that some buses are going out of service and slinking off to the depot at the same time. I do wish there were Fulton Street short-turns added. It gives service to the crowd about Eastern Parkway without having to go all the way up to DeKalb. Seriously, I can't stress how many people will just pack on Fulton Street. The is appearently going to add some AM Rush Hour, although I'm curious if it will be short-turns to/from Avenue H or to Kings Plaza. Still, it beats the B41. As you know, the B41 is split-branch to Bergen Beach and Kings Plaza. It never hit me how quickly service lessens from the Plaza. From around 6-ish in the evening, the local and limited both taper down to 20 mins each, so hypothetically it's an even 10 min-headaway... except the schedule shows weekday service from Kings Plaza to be thus: (Local and Limited, respectively) 5:19 PM - 5:26 - 5:36 - 5:42 - 5:53 - 5:58 - 6:13 - 6:18 - 6:33 - 6:38 - 6:52 - 6:58 - 7:12 - 7:18 - 7:32 - 7:38 - 7:52 - 8:02 - 8:14 Not hard to see the unevenness in the timetable. You often have B41 buses coming, dropping off people, and then going OOS in great numbers. Even the B2 (yeah, I went there) seems to be more consistent. Of course, the B2 at that time runs 12 minutes compared to the combined 10 mins of the B41, so it's not so hard. (To be fair, the B41 probably is a lot more-delay prone) Still funny how Kings Plaza has that much more weekend service than reverse-peak (and inverted with Bergen Beach.) The implication (as true as it may or may not be) that Kings Plaza is that much more busier on the weekend than in the reverse-peak, (including summer), and vice-versea for Bergen Beach, just saddens me. At the end of the day though, there's at least the Q35. [/rant]
  5. For a while I had forgotten how FOREVER the S79 takes from end to end Also, on the B46, it would seem that reverse-peaks buses during the PM Rush actually fill up nicely. However, sometimes you'll see several crowded buses and a couple of empty buses. The B46 Northbound during the PM Rush runs like wild fire, so of course bunching isn't all that out of the question. Aside from lack of a convenient place to turn buses around, could the consider Fulton St short-turns on the B46? During Rush Hour, the B46 has short-turns at Eastern Pkwy and there are the standard DeKalb Avenue short-turns, but it's actually kind of surprising how many people can pack on at Fulton St.
  6. 1. The C/R first announced that Utica Av would be the last stop as we were travelling between Atlantic Av and Franklin Av. 2. Beverly Road is still not online yet. But I am curious as to why the New Lots-bound Countdown Clock at Utica Av almost always seems to only show the actual time.
  7. Today during PM Rush Hour I was riding a that was all signed up to go to New Lots Av (even the Countdown Clock labeled it as such) but of course the train went out of service at Utica instead. I wasn't all that surprised, because something similar happened to a train interval at the end of AM Rush Hour. Anyway after the the train went out of service, the train sat on the express track for a good 3-4 minutes, leaving around the same time a arrives. What gets me was that the 3-4 minutes spent sitting in Utica could have just been used staying in service to New Lots. (To clarify, the OOS train did indeed switch to the local track once it left Utica)
  8. I rode a New Flyer Bus on the Bx12 +SBS today. Wha....? I guess there was a problem with one of the LFSAs.
  9. Can't believe I didn't notice this earlier. The Orion Vs are boss  I'm one of those noobs who still uses MS Paint If it makes you feel any better, my map-editing has gotten better  Is that some kind of record?
  10. "Well Mr. , we know you are only doing this with good intentions, so we will work with the alternatives we have" Yeah, you got all of them... except for the B54/Q55 merger  Also, just to clarify, the B67 is axed, the B69 is extended to the same place where the B62 (and the B57 before it was extended) terminate. All the old B67 trips (meaning every other bus on weekdays and all buses on weekends) terminate at Grand Army Plaza. I swear, I will accept full responsibility if the uses these ideas as service cuts. I will personally see to it that every man, woman, and child affected goes on their way, and help every potential commuter along those routes as well Also, at first, that small section was the only part of the the Brooklyn Bus Map from July 2010 onwards I found online that I could edit (As you know, the PDF files the posts on their website can't be edited.) If someone could post the entire July 2011 bus map online as an image where I could save it and edit it... Anyway, I found a July 2010 Downtown Brooklyn inset map after lots of searching, I guess I'll fool around with that. If I have nothing else to do, of course. EDIT: The quality of that map is pretty bad. Darn it. EDIT EDIT: Not even gonna work on it. EDIT EDIT EDIT: Found a somewhat better Downtown Brooklyn map on Second Avenue Sagas. And I'm not gonna make any more edits
  11. That's only one of the service cuts... err... changes on that map
  12. Let's play a game. Before you is a part of the Brooklyn Bus Map. Imagine that this part comes from the map 2 years in the future. Spot all the service cuts/service changes
  13. Oh yeah, the first 251 were the greatest! Sure, there are only 4 Dragon-types and 4 Ghost-types, but it doesn't matter because the original 251 are just better! I see it as older and newer Pokémon both having pros and cons. Nostalgia aside, I don't really feeling like choosing favorites.
  14. 120? Good thing you had that freezer. Keep on truckin'! I finally understand the how En Passant thing. I was a chess noob. I mean, I had so many misconceptions about the game. Namely: - I always thought the king was not allowed to capture other pieces. Moreover, I thought that when you were in check, you had to move the king out of the way. Imagine how dumb I felt when I learned that you were perfectly allowed to capture the attacking piece. - I always confused the bishop and knight's places. Also, I thought the king was supposed to face the other color's queen, and vice-versea, but now I know the king and queen are supposed to face the other color's king and queen. - When you promote a pawn, I thought you could only promote it to a piece your opponent captured. And then I learned you could take any piece. Potentially having two or more queens is awesome. I can't wait to have 3 queens and use En Passant on someone....
  15. Anyone else notice how the will retcon station names? I.E.: Gravesend - 86th St -> 86th St Gravesend - Neck Road -> Neck Road Parkchester - E 177th St -> Parkchester Nereid Ave - 238th St -> Nereid Ave I mean, sometimes station re-naming will have a big to-do about it (Jay St-Metrotech, Court Square-23rd St, Fulton St ) But here the names were quietly changed (or in this case, shortened) like a comic book retcon EDIT: Maybe I'm crazy, but was Neck Road ever called Gravesend-Neck Road? All the sources I've seen have called it just Neck Road.
  16. Finally got a summer thing goin' on. Also, I don't suck at chess anymore  Won three games today. The third victory was the sweetest. I had been careless and lost a lot of pieces, but I was holding my own. My opponent and I were basically two-way trapping each other. But before he could finish me off, I managed to get my pawn all the way to the end of the board and trade up for a Rook. Before too long, it was my King + Rook against the other guy's King. I learned about a move called the En Passant. Also, I'm pretty glad there were so many people playing chess. Even people you wouldn't first expect to know the game knew how to play it well. My friend curb-stomped me at chess way back, I have to meet up with her again and return the favor Also, for a supposedly uber-hot day, it didn't really feel all that different from other hot days.
  17. This, so much. They really should've just ended the series with the movie. Anyone else notice how squeaky and high-pitched Tom Kenny's Spongebob voice has gotten? I liked it better earlier on, when it was somewhat deeper. Pretty much the only thing the later seasons have over the earlier ones is the better animation. Oh and, it's pretty hot out. ...What? It's supposed to be random!
  18. My phone (which is pretty much identical to this one) has always been kinda modest. My brothers have worked (read: misplaced their phones/had their phones taken or whatever) their way up to a Crackberry. My mom has an iPhone. I think my sister has something similar. I don't really want a supermegaultrazord phone. I dislike texting and internet browsing. The small screen just doesn't cut it for me. I'm perfectly willing to limit my interwebz time to a computer.
  19. 'Twas half asleep on the . I gained cognisance of where I was at Beverley Road. This women next to me tells me we're at Parkside Av. So I look around and indeed, we're actually at Beverley Rd. WTH was up with that? Did she intentionally mislead me or what? Granted, she was watching a baby (her son, I'm guessing) so she was probably just distracted. Also, this is the second time that, at Atlantic-Pacific where the and are right across the platform and even though the stops at Dekalb Ave, it still ends up beating the across the bridge. Also, the T/O if the train kept blowing the horn on the bridge, I think he was greeting all the other trains we encountered, but maybe he wasn't, because nobody else honked back
  20. At least people on Jerome Ave can transfer to the at 149th St. As for people on the Pelham Line.... it's a sunny day. It's still funny how that G.O. page doesn't mention Fulton St at all. It's like the doesn't have the guts to say that people going to Fulton St are going to have to walk, lol. There are buses to take, though. the M5 and M103 primarily. Still a bad weekend to use the IRT. Also, if the is willing to run the overnight when the is cut, how come they won't run the overnight when the is cut? [in Brooklyn, I mean]
  21. Well the IRT (minus ) is gonna be a total FUBAR today. The shuttle is axed, and the and are offically the alternatives. The MTA's site says, to get to the and , to take the to Park Place if you're coming from Brooklyn (which is correct) and to transfer to the at Broadway-Lafayette if you're coming from Mabhattan or the Bronx. The (MTA)'s site mentions how to the get to the and , like I just pointed out, but it never actually mentions how to get to Fulton St. It never even mentions Fulton St at all. " • For Bowling Green, Wall St and Brooklyn Bridge service, take the (days) or (nights) at nearby stations. " While it's great that Fulton St is in walking distance from Brooklyn Bridge, passengers that go and pay fares shouldn't have to walk as part of the trip. I mean, there's a difference between walking because it's healthy and walking because the can't be bothered to run the shuttle. If you really didn't want to do that walk to Fulton St, you could go to Jay St or Atlantic Ave and double-back on the and but that's incredibly pointless and G.O.s suck. At least the and are stopping at Fulton. Imagine how brutal it would be if only the and were stopping there this weekend.
  22. My moms... I mean, my mom, and sister went to Burger Select. Got me some custom mac and cheese. 'Twas delicious. Oh, and... did you guys meet my girlfriend Lamonditiasaniquiktaikwondoejinika?
  23. 'dead blew mines' -> basically means something annoying... or disrespectful... kinda.. My regents grade were ok.... I got 84 on one and 94 on another. But I didn't really study as well as I should have And the one I got an 84 I got a lower score on than I did last year when I took it a year early... Yeah I know, I fail at life. B) My grades were fairly good. Watching American Dad right now. It's summah time!
