  1. I was thinking about the as well, for those rare times when it's sent to South Ferry. But I don't even know if an actual program to South Ferry exists, so wanting an announcement about the M15 at South Ferry would be getting ahead of myself.
  2. At the height of its service during AM Rush, the has about 18 TPH (it running that often at all is news to me, but whatever) so the can't exceed 12 TPH.
  3. I'm hoping the will update the NTT announcements to announce the transfer to the M34/M34A SBS at 34th St soon, but given how long it took the R160 announcements to get updated with the M15 SBS (I don't even know if the R142s have them, but I doubt it) it'll probably take a while.
  4. Me yesterday (after the fact) http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3p5k6t/ Also relevant: http://www.quickmeme.com/meme/3p5k9x/ (How can I post the images directly?...)
  5. Going uptown yes, it can switch from the 6th Av express to the local track right after leaving Broadway-Lafayette, but going towards Brooklyn it's not possible as no such switch exists between the local and express tracks.
  6. With only two tracks, the Second Avenue line is supposed to be a sort of "semi-express" - Notice how there's no stop between 72nd St and 86th St either.
  7. To clear things up I wasn't really referring to people taking the Bx33 from the train station. It's only a block and a half (or a little longer depending on which building you're going to) from the train station to the Campus so there's no real reason to take a bus, especially since . I was intending the Bx33 mainly to feed people to the subway, and perhaps steal riders from the Bx15 and 19 (which are both slower, no contest). The end at Broadway would be mainly to connect the two sides of St. Nicholas Park. The route actually does get a fair amount of intra-neighborhood usage. I do agree that people coming off the subway from points North might not be too eager to switch to the Bx33. The transfer to the is pretty desolate and the transfer to the isn't that much better. After trying to cut weekend service in 2010 I'm betting the is more than willing to cut the Bx33 in the future and push people onto the 15, 17, and 19. Irrelevant, but there's no shuttle bus from CCNY to 137th St currently but there are shuttle buses to 125th St and 145th St http://www1.ccny.cun...-Route-2010.pdf (That map's outdated, right now the green route heads back to the train station on Convent Av, not Broadway).
  8. Leaning towards no. The Bx19 has good service, but it's just pretty slow. Instead, we should focus on improving the Bx33. This Bx33 extension idea is pretty straightforward. It would turn around using Hamiliton Place. That could be a problem, there isn't really space for buses to layover. The last stop from the Bronx would be either Broadway & 135th St or on Hamiliton Place off 137th St. The first stop to the Bronx would be at Broadway & 138th St. The Bx33 is short, and its headaways suck. Plus it stops dead at St. Nicholas Av. At the very least, it should run to Broadway. Now it can directly serve City College Campus, and West Hamiliton Heights. The 33 isn't as frequent as the Bx15 or Bx19, but it doesn't really run into as much traffic as they do. In fact, I think the Bx33 could make a good feeder route to the and . Right now, people coming from the area who need the usually backtrack on the to 96th St and people who need the generally take the M100 or M101 to 125th St. I heard a few people in my grade take the Bx19 all the way over to the , which I think is crazy, but I guess some commutes work. The Bx33 could save some real time. It would need more service though. Imagine that, extending a route and giving it more service, probably not the most economical solution is it?
  9. @ the Q112: Why? As long as the Q53 is around, any local route running to Rockaway Park probably won't be too popular. Especially if it runs through Lindenwood like the Q21. @ the Q113: What're you talking about? It's kind of unclear. The Q113 runs no where near 147th St. The Q113 LTD as is is pretty good getting on Rockaway Blvd, and what's the point of moving the Q113 Local? Even if you meant 147th Av, I don't know what you mean. There should be a Green Acres - Brooklyn/Queens route. Seems like the common consensus is to reroute the Q7, but something would need to replace. I saw this idea but using a branch of the Q6 to replace the Q7 to the Cargo Terminal, but I don't know. I've seen people suggest to send the Q7 to Green Acres Mall and to Rochdale, if the Q7 to Green Acres stops at Rochdale it has to go slightly out of its way but it's arguably worth it for the access from the West. I mean, right now, Rochdale, Rosedale, and Green Acres, a lot of their service comes from the North (Jamaica). Rochdlae has the Q113 to the South and Green Acres has NICE to the East too, so why not a route from the West? Also, there should be a Q53 express like the old days, if only during the summer season. The ridership is there, no question. I do agree that the Q9 should be extended down 130th Av to the sanitation office at 150th Av to provide access to Jamaica, but I don't know how the Q10 would fit into all this. I saw this grand paln to reroute the Q9, Q10 and Q37 in the area, but it's quite complex.
  10. The lone idea I have, for a new B28 route between the Red Hook IKEA and the train terminal in Canarise: It allows for easier access to Park Slope, Red Hook and Windsor Terrace from the East, right now the only direct services into those first two neighborhoods are from the North and South. I'm guessing neighborhood residents wouldn't be too happy about this idea since they might it as bringing people from bad neighborhoods or whatever, but I really don't get this unused access, just because of Prospect Park. This route takes a little bit of pressure off the B61, what with less people coming from the area East of Prospect Park and going North to Downtown Brooklyn just to head South again. It would probably come out of either Jackie Gleason or East New York depot if it were real.
  11. Apparently a stalled train this morning necessitated rerouting of service to 7th Av and shortening of service (I don't know the full story.) How fitting that today was the one time I took the instead of the .
  12. Off-peak, the two branches of the Q11 have service every hour each. The Q11 and Q21 are both every half-hour. (Although, this had only been in effect for a little while.) While Limited service gets better, local service gets worse.... I remember someone on Subchat complaining that there'll be 4 routes of Woodhaven Blvd soon (Q11, 21, 52, and 53), never mind the fact that the 11 and 21 have crappy headaways and the 52 probably will too (but don't quote me on that)
  13. Just realized this error. The Q21 LTD doesn't actually stop at Pitkin Av. I doubt anybody got on thinking it would stop at Pitkin Av anyway. Although, it'll probably be fixed when the Q21 LTD is re-named in June. Well, not so much "fixed" as the Q52 will have a brand new schedule entirely or probably share one with the Q53.
  14. I also saw a couple of other 1200s but the numbers escape me right now.
  15. Right as I was walking to the store, I saw an LFSA on the shuttle.
  16. I was on a that got turned at Bowling Green for that very reason (but I didn't know it at the time) So I got on a , it was held at Franklin Av for the better part of 10 minutes but eventually we went to Flatbush like normal
  17. There's only one Q21 trip starting at Liberty Av, 6:33 AM to Arverne on weekdays. It'll probably become a Q52 trip.
  18. Here's a 1999 map with the old B18: http://web.archive.org/web/20000823062216/www.lirr.org//nyct/maps/busbkln.pdf
  19. Yes, but those Q35s are absolutely packed. There's a reason people are suggesting extra service to the Rockaways. The can't even be bothered to add extra Q35 trips for the season.
  20. @B35: These Q35 short-turns would drop people off at Kings Plaza and dead-head to Avenue S, right? Or would it end at Avenue S? About the Q52 to Far Rockaway, I dunno, is it needed? Playing devil's advocate here, but the deadhead distance for the Q52 would go up a lot and the route in general would become pretty long. Is it really bringing anything to the table the isn't already? I mean, the Q53 takes just about the same time as the shuttle to get to Broad Channel from 116th St and actually goes somewhere, but from Far Rockaway the Q22 to the Q21 takes almost twice as long as the [12 mins vs. 25 mins, not including wait time transferring between the Q22 and Q21, and the bus would probably take even longer during busier travel periods anyway...] The Q52 would be somewhat faster, but are people really going to take the bus when they could take the faster train instead? I do have to say, the idea of a faster trip on the Eastern end of the peninsula could prove to be kinda popular. How frequent will the Q52 be anyway? Right now the Q21 LTD is 15 minutes during Peak Rush Hour and the Q21 Local is all day, every day. We have no indication as to how fequent the Q52 will be, except that there will be "minor schedule adjustments" to the Q11 and Q53. Personally, I don't think there will be too much change compared to current Q21 service to Arverne. I do think a Q53 Express could work in tandem with the current 52 and 53, but I don't know if it could its own weight all-year long or just during summer.
  21. The Q35 is Limited on Flatbush Av currently, but the Q35X Shortline proposes would still skip a good 5 or so stops over the current Q35. As for this Q53 express of yours, would it serve Broad Channel? The original Q53 express did.
  22. I don't know if someone's proposed an idea like this: The B2 would be "eliminated", and there'd be two routes, the B100 and B101, running between Bay Ridge and Mill Basin. The B100 and B101 use the B2 proposed routing in Borough Park on Avenue P and E 65th St, etc. The B101 is identical to the B100, except that it serves Kings Plaza and the B100 does not. B101 route deviation: Fillmore Av -> Flatbush Av -> Avenue U -> E 66th St B100 and B101 service combined would represent current B2 and B100 service combined. Not all trips would run all the way to Bay Ridge; some trips would short-turn between Kings Highway station on the Brighton line and Mill Basin. Also, between Gerristen Av and the subway station, the B100 and B101 would run on Avenue R instead of Fillmore Av (via the B2 and B31 routing)
