  1. Because none of the service changes will result in a reduction of service of 25 percent or more on any line, they do not require approval by Nassau's Transit Advisory Committee, which oversees the bus system. NICE chief executive Michael Setzer called them "fundamentally housekeeping changes."

For details about the changes, go to nicebus.com.

Chisel a little at a time lol. Do they have traffic checkers out there all of the time?

  2. Glad to see the n15 goes back to its Pre weekend routing on December 30.

The n22x stops at MIC and NHP and Hillside are totally not necasery. The n22x already gets full from RF to 179. Might as well make the limited serve those stops and RF as well while the 22x goes on its regular route

It's interesting that the N15 will use Clinton Rd whenever outside of court hours. I guess they realized most riders are just going to the mall. However there are Country Glen riders that use it to get to/from Hempstead.

    .

The N22 Limited already serves those stops.

  3. It's not only n23/n27 but it's also happening lot between n20 and n27.

Sometimes when n20 Hicksville/CW Post arrived at exact same time as n27 Glen Clove, sometimes people are forced to jump in through busiest traffic trying to make it to bus. Sometimes they could make and sometimes they don't.

Depends on bus operators, sometimes driver will let you off at south side by gas station where they could have easy chance catching n27 in either direction.

Thats ridiculous, someone should record that and send it to the news or something, If they're going to schedule connections the bus drivers should be aware of such connections. Record and complain to NICE, show the news and the bus riders union. That nonsense has to stop.
  4. Yeah, it is their responsibility to update the public more often on what is happening, but I don't blame them for some of the mistakes on the website because their technology is old and does need to be updated a bit.

I think it's a combination of it being "old", and maybe the site is updated from Europe. I was poking around and saw German.
  5. Yeah I noticed the n35 midday reduction, could be a problem with NCC I dont know if thats a busy time though. They do have the n16x trips though. Most buses between HTC and RF are busy, even nights and weekends, so I wouldn't cut n35 service further. Or one could have the n35's end at HTC (outside of rush hour) and extend the 16 up to Westbury (no more n16 at RF).

But that may piss of ppl who use the n35 who transfer at RF to Jamaica bound buses. Then there's the college. And the n35 helps out taking a little load off the n22's coming to/from Westbury.

Seems like there may be enough coverage with the N16, the N16x and N43.

Most N35's I see "north" of NCC are kind of empty, so it seems like they're trying to reduce the service on the northern portion, and have the N15 cover it since most riders on the N15 are just going between HTC and the Mall anyway, meanwhile riders can still use the N43 to get to and from the Mall and NCC. They probably save a lot of mileage gas/ not going the roundabout way to Roosevelt Field.

One issue I do see, is that there are N15 riders in the Old Country/Glen Cove Rd area that use the bus to get to and from Hempstead as they go to work/school/shop in the country glen area. In the evening you can see groups of people waiting for the N22, N24 and N15. Now they will have to Walk to the Roosevelt Field stop, or cross the street and take a bus into the mall.

  6. Thoughts on Changes: I like how they show the route via their online interactive map, on the back of the schedule.

N2/N8: Interesting, now its reunited with the N25. I rarely saw ANYONE on the bus north of Hempstead Turnpike, this may increase ridership as it allows better connections.

N6/N6x: NHP RD is a good addition. I think they still skip Elmont Rd and Locustwood Blvd because of the N1.

N15: will serve County Seat Dr only during Rush Hours basically. I wonder if they will reduce N35 service.

N35; Looks like they reduced midday service between Hempstead and Roosevelt Field while the N15 serves its route.

N22: Should get more riders on the N22x now

N73: More direct routing, saves running mileage, etc.

N80/N81: Cut back to LIRR. Only N20 & N48/N48 serves Broadway mall now.

I don't see any references to a stop-skipping/express service east of Roosevelt Field.

there are X marks at 169, 179, NHP Rd, Mineola(not visible), Roosevelt Field, Post Rd, and Hicksville LIRR
  7. Yeah I am surprised more didn't migrate to LIRR. BUT then again LIRR stops nowhere near hempstead tpk.

Exactly, the ridership of the LIRR Hemsptead branch and N6 are really not related at all.

That is sad as N6 is supposed to be more frequent than N1.

During Rush hours going to or from Queens, I look for the N1 first and foremost. The N6 is always crowded and late and bunched.

I don't agree with the Belmont stop because that's why the LIRR is for.

I disagree, the ridership that takes the bus to the Racetrack really has nothing to do with the LIRR.

  8. Please let us know, I was thinking of going for the medical also then declining.

I believe if you put your name back on the list you will be put back in your list number order. So you will be first if someone with a lower list number hadn't ask to be reinstated before you.

  9. you need to get out more cause I experienced it first hand 2 months after N6x it just plain works ppl got used to it to the point where even every 10 mins is perfect. Sorry but the expresses are no longer as empty as they were when they first started I will not argue further with you cause experience doesn't lie I saw them back to back CRUSHED. There is nothing that can stip it once a change becomes successful it will not be reversed. N6X if were to be less frequent then ppl would be face to glass those 2 stops work. If N6L was not crushed it will truely never return frankly nothing is wrong with the current N6x & local setup now NICE fixed most of the early problems just extend all N6x trips to 165th then change routing to reach mecham faster then thats it. More locals can be added or artics or any higher capacity bus on N6 locals at rush hour can help.

I see the N6X much more frequently than you do, they are not crushed, more seats are used now, but they are not crushed and are rarely SRO. If they are SRO it's because the N6 is always bunching. Sometimes crushed buses from Jamaica are caused by (F) bunching or even worse, N6 AND (F) bunching!

The locals are generally crushed all day, even moreso since June when they reduced off peak and sat frequencies to 12 mins.

    You mean n6x, not n6L?

    Yep I meant the N6X
  10. As much as I was scratching my head about N6X the numbers are no longer in your favor man. N6x is now a success with the mecham stop and the 169th stop I believe it should have all N6x trips originate at 165th cause if it's so much faster than the N6 local then there is no reason it shouldn't originate from 165th and travel the full route. Lately the N6x has been CRUSHED ever since the new stops. Unfortunately N6x now just plain works can't do anything about that. N6 ltd was fine but with N6X being successful now nothing can be done to change it back. At first it was stupid but then they were swift and corrected their mistake now it works. NICE just has the BALLZ to try new things even if they are questionable.

I have yet to see a "crush loaded" N6L, I did see an SRO N6L, but then it was followed by an N6L with 5 people on board. They should spread out the runs. Every 10 mins is too frequent. The buses originally turned at 179th street to save on mileage and time, which would mean more trips with less buses and gas.

There was never any doubt in mind that the n6x would be a success for what it is suppose to do. But at what cost? Thousands of riders are vein left out waiting longer and longer for the local bus. The n6x is it's own route without a successful supplement. For the n6x to be a true success, the n6 local should run more frequent during rush hour.or having a limited with it. The n6x helps a few sure but they are running less buses on a route that can't handle less buses

I agree, they should run more locals and less expresses, But their main purpose was to have more trips with less buses.
  11. Wait, so from the start when the O5 CNGs came, they did poor maintenance for more federal funding? But if they had started off with good maintenance from the beginning, then the buses would have been running better all together right?

I've heard that the MTA/LIB only got funding from the federal government when they had a certain amount of breakdowns, and so, that's how their maintenance was paid for. And we know how government funding works, I certainly find that to be the likely case.
