  1. Those are old schedules

Speaking about gas, a few days ago passenger in back had the farts, he kept farting so bad, it smelled horrible, he told driver he had to go to the bathroom now if driver didn't let him off he would go in his pants, so at red light on northern blvd and utopia driver was nice he opened door, and I saw the man run into the taco bell.

    LOL

  2. This morning around 11:10 or so, the (F) I was on went express from 179th st to 71st Ave because of a smoke condition at Van Wyck Blvd.

The previous (F) was held in the station at Parsons Blvd, people ran over when we arrived, and at Van Wyck Blvd there was an (E) which appeared to be moving slowly, half way out of the station with  FDNY on board and smoke toward the front of the train.

  3. That's exactly what I was wondering. There was nothing wrong between Roosevelt and 71st northbound, so northbound (E) and (F) trains should have been on the express track east of Roosevelt. No reason for them to remain on the local track and get held by the (M) or (R) fumigating at 71st.

Right, they always let (E) and (F) trains get held up by fumigating at 71st, unnecessary! They could run the (M) or (R) to 179th and the (F) full Hillside Express and the (E) Express to Jamaica Center.

    Oh no! Got this email...

n/b M and R trains via express Roosevelt Av to 71 Av, due to a rail condition at 71 Av. Allow additional travel time.

I bet they were still Fumigating at 71st Ave.  <_<

  4. I don't get why the (R) has to run on the (N) line. The N would have less service ?

If the (R) wasn't going to Forest Hills, they could spread them out on the (N) without screwing up the crews too much and causing too much bunching?

What a dumb move in having the (R) be rerouted via the Sea Beach Line for no reason.

By the way, yeah, I got caught in that mess too as I was on the R46 (F) from earlier. I only saw the rail condition issue at 65th Street, but not at 36th Street.

All northbound (E) and (F) are/were 100% local on the Queens Boulevard Line actually. The delays were so bad on the local track, primarily because of the fumigation at 71st Avenue on the (M) and (R).

Sending the (R) via the Sea Beach probably mitigates the bunching on 4th Ave and 95th street from having the northern terminals being @Whitehall/42nd st.

I hate when there is an issue on Queens Blvd and they run all lines on one track and they STILL fumigate at 71st Ave. Who are these geniuses?

They should have sent the remaining (M) and (R) trains local to 179th, send the (E) and (F) express after Roosevelt Ave/71st Ave. Also the (M) and (R) aren't that frequent. they could have run some trains express on the local to mitigate delays.

  5. 8th Ave is screwy today:

    Service Change  Posted: 06/22/2015  1:05PM

Due to signal problems at 34 St-Penn Station, the following service changes are in effect:

Southbound c.png trains are running express from 59 St-Columbus Circle to Canal St.

Southbound e.png trains are running express from 42 St-Port Authority to Canal St.

Expect delays on a.png train service

    Allow additional travel time.

    Service Change  Posted: 06/22/2015 12:33PM

Due to a rail condition at W 4 St-Washington Sq, the following service changes are in effect:

Northbound c.png trains are running express from Canal St to 59 St-Columbus Circle.

Northbound e.png trains are running express from Canal St to 42 St-Port Authority.

  6. There's a lot of reasons for why MTA projects in general are expensive, ranging from inefficient work rules, to the byzantine bidding process that discourages more competition, to the fact that MTA is required to pick lowest-bid (even though later on there are cost overruns because it was understated to win the bid), to the strange fact that Anglophone countries for whatever reason tend to have significantly higher costs than their peers.

There is a LOT more they can/(could have gotten) get accomplished if they keep their projects and costs reasonable.

  7. Myself & my parents take the N20 on a regular basic but bus pole doesn't display the time, I have called 311 many times, also I asked downstairs in subway for a Nice bus map and they didn't have one but I got 3 mta bus maps it shows N20 only small in flushing

Why is it called nice bus for?

NICE is a separate transit agency and is neither run by the MTA nor NYC, so they're not going to have times on the pole. 311 is for NYC problems.

    NICE= Nassau InterCounty Express.

    Website= www.nicebus.com

They also have the GoMobile app for ios and android.

  8. Sorry I asking so much questions I am a new bus rider because I lost my car, I take n20

Everyday & I MISS my car dearly:

No Problem I became a frequent bus rider years ago when I lost my car. Have since got another car. I ride NICE sometimes to get to the subway but there is usually something that triggers me to drive to the subway for several days or weeks after each NICE incident lol.

  9. In response to other comment I made before maybe nice bus should have a sign on bus saying we don't drop

    Off passenger in queens

They do, perhaps they should make it extremely large, or add it to the announcements.

    .

    Thanks for the info

Is Long Island bus union like a team of enforcement to make sure the nice bus is running property and on time? I never see a member in flushing on Roosevelt ave because n20 always late and sometimes silly lady on bus she sings very loudly while listening to music on her radio and drinking coffee

The LIBRU is just a group that likes to complain.

  10. Today older woman got on n20 bus on Roosevelt ave she mistook n20 bus for q12 because of white & blue bus, I told her this is a nice bus & she had no idea n20 bus is a private line bus now, she wanted to get off on northern blvd the stop before francis Louis bvld myself and 3 other younger people told driver to let this lady off she said it is a honest mistake and the driver wouldn't do her a small favor he was keep saying no I will not open door she had to get off city line, when bus stopped at bell blvd to pick up passengers the older lady tried to exit but driver closed door very fast and put foot on gas, cmon this lady made a mistake got on wrong bus she was upset she wants to call the nice hotline does anybody know the nice bus complain dept hotline? this older lady could have been the bus driver mother or grandmother, I know there are rules but sometimes bus drivers should close one eye and do a favor for older passengers.

They're probably told to do this because they have to deal with this "mistake" every day. The only way to teach people a lesson is to drop them off at the first stop in Nassau County. I'll bet you she'll look next time.

  11. Yep, they dropped "Van Wyck Blvd" from the official name because some people felt the old name didn't accurately reflect its location. I say meh.

I'm still waiting on them to drop the name from the pdf map on the website. You'd think that would be the first place they'd update.

All they had to do was change the stop to Van Wyck Expwy

    make it Briarwood Main St

That works too. Or Van Wyck - Main St.

  12. I believe the Barcelona Metro has double-decked structures. There is a map of the system and most of Line 9 and Line 10 appear to be built that way. Wikipedia says it's mostly underground, but there are portions on viaducts.

    http://carto.metro.free.fr/cartes/metro-tram-barcelona/

The switches between two tracks are interesting because they're essentially long ramps from one level to the other much like the ramps north of Bergen Street connecting the local (F) to Jay Street–MetroTech.

Cool site. I was just looking at the London Undeground, I see that some parts of the system, the trains travel on the right. Does anyone know why that is? I's it similar to The Rockefeller center Downtown Express/Local swap because it was easier/cheaper?

  13. I don't think there will be any increase, or maybe a small one. It'll benefit the existing ridership and any occasional riders. What program are they using for the tracking device?

They're using Clever Devices, supposedly the bus tracking is going o be integrated into the GoMobile app.

    This.

Shit is mad loud, and it's more verbose than the old "Bus Turning.... Autobus (tor)neado" announcement ....

    "Bus Turning, Autobus girando"

    To turn = girar
